If you’re love life has gone into lockdown alongside the rest of the U.K., now is the perfect time to work on yourself and your confidence when it comes to dating. Heading out on a first date is always nerve-racking but when you’ve not had a date for a while it could feel even worse. Here’s how to be confident and calm on a date once the lockdown has eased.

I’m not going to lie, I’d hate to think I had to start dating again, I’d be a mess! I’m not very sociable or confident but I do have a number of tricks up my sleeve that help me keep calm and feel a little more confident in certain situations that you use when it comes to dating.
Try virtually dating first
The beauty of this lockdown is that at the moment you can’t go out on physical dates. The good news is though that you can still go on virtual dates. Many of us are much more comfortable chatting away via WhatsApp etc than we are talking to people face to face so there couldn’t be a better time to start looking for love! Being stuck at home means you’ve got more time to chat to someone before meeting them. If you’ve been talking for a while you could try having a virtual date and see how that goes. Hopefully when you do get to meet you’ll already be super comfortable with each other and any awkwardness will have disappeared because you’ll have already had fun virtually dating.
Stick to dating local
If you’re not a very confident person then you’ll often find that your mind goes into overdrive. Having to travel to go on a date gives you more time to start panicking and coming up with crazy scenarios. I know if I’m in a situation where I don’t feel very confident, the more time I have to think about things, the worse I feel! While you’re working on your confidence try out local dating sites such as Berkshire dating site or similar regional sites to help you grow your dating confidence. By staying local you’ll have less time to panic which will help you stay confident and calm on the date.
It’s O.K. to feel nervous
Just remember it’s perfectly O.K. and normal to feel nervous. The trick is to try and hide it so you can come across as confident and calm on a date. Dating should be fun with no pressure. It’s very rare to go out and meet someone these days so try a range of different ways to meet people. There are so many apps and sites now just remember to stay safe and only use reputable apps and dating sites. By trying out different ways to meet people you’ll hopefully find the one that works for you and helps you feel the most confident. Regional dating sites like Berkshire dating site allow you to comfortably get to know people through your computer first.
Use this time wisely
If you’re single, being in lockdown can feel a little lonely. It doesn’t have to be though. Use this time to enjoy your own company and have fun. Chatting to other people will not only help your confidence grow but you just might end up finding someone you want to meet up with when all this is over. Remember though, there’s no pressure to be in a relationship. When you place expectations on a situation then it can make you feel worse if it doesn’t work out how you wanted it to. The secret to remaining confident and calm on a date is to just have fun, go with the flow, and if it works out then that’s absolutely fantastic. If it doesn’t then just see it as practice for working on your confidence when it comes to meeting people!
