Christmas dating – how to find love in December

Who else thinks Christmas is a really romantic time? I know I do! With a touch of magic in the air, all the coziness of the season and it being the perfect time to snuggle down with a significant other. December dating certainly looks different this year though but that doesn’t mean to say it can’t still be romantic. So whether you’re already coupled up or you’re looking for love this Christmas, read on to find out how to date this Christmas in the new normal.

Looking for love at Christmas

It’s been a funny old year hasn’t in? At times it might have felt really lonely too. As Christmas approaches it’s only natural to want to find someone to share some magical moments with. While non of us quite knows what will happen in England when the current lockdown restrictions come to an end at the beginning of December or what Christmas will even look there are still ways to find love this festive season. While I know there’s absolutely no substitute for the way things were, no matter how hard we try, there are thankfully still some great options that will help you find companionship this Christmas.

Date in your local area

Chances are when the England lockdown ends we’ll be going into a tiered system again. While each tier comes with its own set of rules one thing that remains even in the highest tier (at the time of writing) is that you can still meet others outdoors in a public space. That’s great news if you want to take your dating life beyond the virtual realm and go on some fun, but safe dates. When it comes to finding love this Christmas and actually been able to go out on dates, your best option is to stick to dating in your local area. That way you’re safe in the knowledge that you won’t be subject to travel restrictions that might put a stop to your dating adventures. Local dating sites such as Merseyside dating (or your local area) are a great way to find love in the current climate.

By sticking to your local area for dates you’ll have a better idea of all the nice places you can go too. If you can only meet outdoors make sure to wrap up warm and maybe grab a hot drink too. This kind of date isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You can embark on a lovely wintery walk, see the Christmas lights and enjoy a festive drink all while you’re free from distractions, it’ll just be the two of you really getting to know each other. On the flip side, if your not quite getting along as well as you hoped you can dash off home too!

Local dating like the Merseyside dating site are a safe and easy way to meet people in your own area you can chat away online and enjoy at few virtual dates before meeting in person.

Know what you want

Whether you’re looking for long term love or some companionship for the festive season. Knowing what you want before you jump into dating will help you have a merry Christmas rather than a miserable one. The relaxed and happy feeling of Christmas coupled with having more free time this year is the perfect combination for figuring out exactly what you’re looking for. And be open and honest about it too. Any potential matches will thank you for it.

Staying in love at Christmas

Now if you’re already coupled up this Christmas there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy some December dates either. I don’t mind admitting that I have an overly romantic view of the festive season anyway as my fiancĂ© and got together in December and we also go engaged in December. But Christmas has always been my absolute favourite time of the year for us to do things together. Again we’re a little restricted this year as to what we can and can’t do but there are still options to keep the romance alive this Christmas and spend some good quality time together.

Time together that counts

If you’re living together you might have already spent a lot of time together this year. From more people working from home to being furloughed. There’s a good chance you’ve been spending time in each others company a lot more. Even if you’ve gone out to work as normal, the stress of everything that’s happening and the pressures of working during a pandemic may have followed you home. This is why spending time together that counts is so important. I’m not talking about the normal time you spend together every day. I’m talking proper, quality time.

Christmas comes with an abundance of activities you can do with your significant other and luckily there’s loads of great options for all the restrictions in place. Just because you’re already coupled up doesn’t mean to say there aren’t distractions, for your phone, the TV and work. So just like those looking for love, I highly recommend getting out into your local area, go for a big walk and just catch up with each other. Or ditch the technology and crack out the board games (I mean Christmas was made for this right?!), get some snacks and some wine and just talk, laugh and have fun.

I’ve already mentioned that I find Christmas a really romantic time. So embrace that. Live in the moment and make this festive season the time where you make time for the person you love. Simple things like putting up the Christmas decorations together or baking some festive treats just break the usual routine of sitting in front of the TV together.

It’s important to keep that spark alive and take the time to catch up with each other especially when you’ve been together a long time.

These are some great tips. It feels so long since I dated, that I think I would struggle if I needed to now.
