How Can Women Get Over a Bad Breakup?

14 December 2022 Leave a Comment

Going through a breakup is the worst feeling ever. After a relationship ends, we mourn not only the loss of our romantic partner but also the dreams and desires we had for our futures. And studies have shown that women feel more emotional and physical pain after the separation than men. Although there’s no quick fix or a rulebook for getting over someone, there are a few things you can do to help you heal faster. In this article, we’ve shared four ways how women can get over a bad breakup. Read on.

Take Your Time to Grieve

What most people don’t understand is that it’s okay to grieve after a breakup. Take your time. Experts suggest setting a timer of at least 30 minutes and allowing yourself to feel whatever you are feeling without any judgment. But post that timer, stop crying and allow yourself to get engaged in some other activity to break the thought pattern. Too much overthinking can lead to severe stress, anxiety, and even depression.

Reconnect With Things That Bring You Joy

Now that you don’t have a partner to share your emotions and feelings with, reconnect with small things that bring you joy. It might sound like an impossible task in the beginning, but you will have to push yourself a bit to get out of the breakup zone and focus on other things in life. For instance, if you like dancing, join a dance class or if you’re good at a sport, join a sports academy.

Don’t Be Too Quick to Seek Love

After a relationship ends, many people find it hard to deal with emotional and physical pain. Hence, they often seek love and affection from some other person, but experts advise against it. Don’t be too quick to trust another guy; rather, spend some time alone with yourself. You can engage in self-pleasure to satisfy your body needs and relieve muscle tension. You can use different toys like vibrators and dildos, as many brands offer dildos for sale, which would also be an affordable option for you.

Focus on Yourself

Last but not least, focus on your goals. Many women wait for their post-breakup emotions to become normal to start working on their dreams. But that’s not the right approach, says relationships experts. Instead of crying all day long, work on yourself. Hit the gym, eat well, prepare hard to crack that interview you’ve been waiting for, or go visit your dream city with your friends. Or you can also take up healthy habits, such as reading, spending more time with nature, and limiting your social media consumption.

Final Thoughts

Getting over a breakup can be devastating, especially for those with long-term relationships. Research has shown that people take 3-4 months or even 1.5 years on average to get over someone. Thus, it is okay to feel bad and lonely after you leave a person with whom you have spent such precious time. Accepting your feelings and taking one step at a time is all you need to get out of a past relationship.
