When you think of autumn food what do you think of? For me it’s delicious, hearty meals that are instantly comforting. Autumn is the time for delicious food. So if you’re looking for some new dishes to fall in love with this autumn then I’ve got you covered with these 15 delicious autumn recipes.

From pies, to soups, casseroles and pasta dishes, there’s a little bit of something for everyone here with these delicious autumn recipes that will warm you up and the autumn chill sets in.

Chicken, brie and cranberry pie

We may as well kick things off with a pie recipe hadn’t we because if there’s one dish that’s synonymous with autumn, it’s pie. This chicken, brie and cranberry pie is a delicious twist on a traditional chicken pie. The brie adds a nice, creamy twist to a traditional recipe. This is a great recipe for if you’ve got guests or if you’re just wanting a cosy, pub style meal. Serve with mashed potato, vegetables and lashings of gravy!

Broccoli and sweet potato soup

Along with pie, soup is another autumn stable. It’s a great option for lunch and it’s a fantastic way to pack lots of veggies into one dish. Soup is a lovely option for a warming but filling lunch after a long autumn walk. This recipe uses sweet potato, broccoli and onion then a dash of red pepper flakes for a bit of extra warmth.

Is there anything better than a big bowl of creamy, cheesy pasta? Well actually it turns out there is and that’s a big bowl of creamy, cheesy pasta with steak in it! The best thing about this dish is it can all be done in a slow cooker too. Just brown the steak then through everything into the slow cooker and let it do it’s thing and you’ll have the most delicious mac and cheese ready to go.

If you’re after a soup dish that’s a little more filling but still healthy then this is the one for you. It’s packed with vegetables but the chunky bits of beef make it a little more filling than your usual soup. It can all be made in one pot too which saves on the washing up. This soup freezes really well so is a great option for batch cooking.

Individual shepherd’s pie in baked potatoes

I love a hearty shepherd’s (or rather cottage) pie in autumn. Shepherd’s pie is made with lamb and cottage pie is made with beef. I prefer been but you can use which ever. What really sets this recipe apart from your standard shepherd’s/cottage pie though is the unique presentation in a baked potato. It’s a great twist on a traditional British dish.

Chicken enchilada casserole

I love a good tex-mex dish and while they aren’t the most visually pleasing dishes, boy are they comforting! Us Brits tend to think of casseroles as one set kind of meal but over in America a casserole is basically anything prepared and baked in a casserole dish hence enchilada casserole. It’s super simple as really it’s just using chicken fajitas in a dish, covered in salsa, smothered in cheese and baked!

This dish is best eaten fresh though as it doesn’t keep too well.
