Happy List: October 2020

5 November 2020 Comments : 24

One of my favourite months of the year is over and it’s been a little up and down this month. I’ve had a lovely October as I love Halloween season but with all the new restrictions in the U.K. it’s tough. My town is now in tier 3 restrictions meaning I can no longer see my family. However I try to keep this a positive space so let’s focus on the good things from October!

Spooky season is my second favourite time of the year after Christmas so I fully embraced the month. I had lots of Halloween and autumn content going out on the blog too which was great as it’s my favourite content to create. I also enjoyed some time off work to relax and get ahead a little with blog content.

1. The Halloween decorations came out a little earlier than normal this year. Well why not?! It’s been a rubbish year and I needed some spooky fun a little earlier than usual. I love our Halloween decorations, especially now we have two spooky wax burners too for my massive stash of wax melts.

2. Speaking of wax melts. I only went and made a Christmas order at the start of the month didn’t I?! I don’t have a photo as I was too eager to smell everything to get a photo but I ordered from Mrs Mac Candles on the recommendation of my mum. Oh wow, do they smell amazing. I haven’t melted any of the Christmas ones yet as I’m saving those but I did order a couple of non-festive ones to try out and they’re so strong! I think I’ve just found a wax melt retailer I’ll be consistently ordering from!

3. I did another fashion post earlier in the month. Back in June I did my first fashion post on here and it’s definitely out of my comfort zone. It was super fun though and the clothes are lovely so it would be great if you could check it out if you haven’t already.

4. I flew through books this month. My reading has been a little up and down this year and at times I’ve found it hard to concentrate on a book. As such I’m certainly not going to end up reading as many books this year as I did last year. However throughout October I wanted to get through a few spooky books as it’s one of my favourite genres. I managed to read 5 books in total which for a slow reader like me is pretty good going!

5. It’s been a little bit of a treat yourself month this month but that’s O.K. Last Christmas I actually bought myself a few Christmas presents which might sound weird but I actually have a whole blog post coming in December about why it’s actually really great. So this month I’ve splashed out on a few gifts to put away for myself including a beautiful Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk set. I’m not usually a big spender on myself so it’s nice to treat myself for Christmas. Plus I’ve worked hard this year, so why not?!

6. I also went a little crazy for Primark pjs this month. I went shopping but figured it was a little pointless buying nice clothes with no where to go so came away with three new pairs of pyjamas, Christmas snacks and a Christmas phone case from that shopping trip. One of the pairs of pjs are going away for Christmas Eve. Yes I am that kind of girl and yes I have already thought that far ahead!

7. We continued collecting the Minnie Mouse The Main attraction pins and this month it was the turn of our all time favourite attraction, The Haunted Mansion. We’re nearing the end of the collection now. I wonder what Disney will release next year to take all my money?!

8. As I’ve mentioned I had a week off in October and boy was it needed. I work in a school and the last half term is probably the hardest half term I’ve ever worked over 7 years and 3 different schools. It wiped me out. But I really enjoyed my time off. We carved pumpkins, baked parkin, I went shopping, we headed out for lunch and I had the ultimate lazy day to myself where I cooked lots of homemade comfort food and watched Harry Potter all by myself. It was amazing!

9. I managed to grab one of my absolute favourite ever drinks from Costa, the Black Forest hot chocolate. I got very excited about these coming out again but I haven’t had chance to get one. When I went out shopping I decided to treat myself. It was also a step towards doing more things by myself too seen as I was on my own so I felt pretty proud of that! It the hot chocolate was absolutely delicious!

10. Finally of course, the month ended with Halloween. It was a little different this year as given that we’re in tier 3 trick or treating was banned so we couldn’t go all out with lights and music for the trick or treaters like we have in the past. We did carve a couple of pumpkins for outside our house though and spent the evening with an Indian takeaway from our favourite restaurant and a couple of horror films.

Wow, that turned out to be a bit of a bumper month didn’t it?! Anyone else notice a few Christmas things creeping in, can you tell I’m quite excited for Christmas?! Halloween has gone now so it’s time to get fully festive I think!

I’ve no idea what’s instore for November I mean it’s not like I can actually make plans these days! But I’m hoping for more Christmassy goodness!

I think this is pretty much the same things that made me happy, bar a few!
That hot chocolate is by far my favourite hot drink EVER!!

You do deserve a big treat this year. I buy myself gifts every christmas and also creating a gift guide along those lines (Although I have too much Christmas content that I am actually running out of days to post them!)

I am glad half term was the break you needed. Take care lovely x x

It’s such a good hot chocolate isn’t it?! I’m glad I’m not the only one who buys themselves presents at Christmas. I can’t wait to read your gift guide! That’s the only problem with blogmas, so many content ideas and just not enough ideas! Thank you, you take care too xx

October has truly been up and down for me too, Norway has put out similar restrictions to the UK. Crossing my fingers that we will all be able to celebrate Christmas with our families after a quite lonely Halloween x

Sounds like a fun month, will check out your wax melt supplier. We have already put our Christmas decorations up. We don’t celebrate Halloween in Australia, and I wanted a bit of fun after this year, so up they all went, looking very festive in my abode 🙂

I love this idea! Such a nice way to spread positivity 🙂 I have just gotten into wax melts and I love them. My October was quite eventful but I’m sure that will make up for this month of lockdown.
