Christmas is a lot of people’s favourite time of the year but a number of us still dread the expense that will be coming however.
Some of us are likely to treat ourselves to a few luxury items every year at this time though in order to make this time of year feel more special and quite frankly to find an excuse to buy ourselves and others something nice!
Here I will discuss the best places for both budget and luxury decorations.
Of course we tend to think of the more obvious places such as John Lewis, M & S or Wilko ,depending on your budget.
However I am generally going to focus on the smaller or less well known businesses to purchase goods and attempt to give them some focus .
Best Luxury Christmas Decorations
Half Moon Bay
For the more niche and obscure decorations I personally like Half Moon Bay.
I first discovered them in my local garden centre, Garsons in Titchfield, and I thought they were great and so unique. You most likely wouldn’t buy multiple baubles or decorations a year from there (sometimes baubles are around £11 each when they are not on sale )but they would be a great addition to your home.
Who doesn’t secretly want a Darth Vader or a Jack Skellington bauble?
They like to pride themselves however on having items to buy that can be displayed all year round. I have the Darth Vader and Groot from Guardians of The Galaxy at home and they look great.
The items are also good for presents too of course and they all seem to be made of a lovely ceramic type of material and if you manage to get something in the sale you could also get something under a fiver.
(They have a cheeky Deadpool bauble for £3.99 currently in the sale at the time of writing)
Try out this brand, you won’t be disappointed!
Gisela Graham
Another brand I discovered through Garsons, and it is one of their staples, is Gisela Graham.
Very luxury orientated, a majority of the baubles seem to have a hand crafted look and you would think they have potentially had hours of input made into the products.
They make every sort of shape from birds to wreaths to traditional glittery baubles in a variety of standout colours. Prices range on the baubles from around £4.49 to £9.99 so again this might be a one off treat or gift per year rather than a regular buy but I can promise you will not be disappointed on quality.
The are also stocked at Ocado, Amazon, London Zoo online shop (so you could even give money to charity at the same time) and other websites and they can be bought from their website direct as well.
The only thing I would advise is some of the goods are fragile so be careful when handling!
Sara Miller
Another luxury brand sold at many places now such as garden centres, John Lewis, Amazon ,Very and others is Sara Miller. It’s certainly growing in popularity!
They make various products such as stationary and homeware/kitchenware but a lot of their marketing focus is on Christmas items.
The main focus of their design is usually on various birds, everything from flamingos, owls and penguins but they also have items printed with deers etc as well so there is hopefully something for everyone.
Baubles are £10:50 each so again not a budget buy but when the items are this good looking, it is a great treat buy and your home visitors will certainly notice the unique charm the decorations possess.
The make their decorations from fine china and you will certainly see the quality the great thing about them is their uniqueness. As soon as you see a Sara Miller product you will notice as they are very distinctive.
They are clearly selling well as if you go onto John Lewis for example a lot of their items can be low on stock and you may have to wait a while until something comes back in stock in again.
Best Budget Christmas Decorations
Flying Tiger
The Danish variety store, Flying Tiger has certainly gained a few fans over the last 5 or so years for their general vast range of items such as stationary, homeware such as cushions and even Danish sweets and snacks. However they always bring out lovely decorations every Christmas for every budget. Flying Tiger has gone up slightly in price( not as many items for a pound anymore, most likely this is a response to the cost of living crisis) but the diverse range of baubles is definitely still well priced. There are Santa items, animals and sleighs amongst others for £2 and £3.( I think the maximum for larger items is £5?) So this is very affordable and especially great for stocking fillers.
They even have an online store now but be aware the delivery cost is around £8 so that might be best for bulk buying instead.
A great place to take the kids too as they are likely to find lots of gifts for a reasonable budget!
Dunelm
Everyone knows Dunelm but this is likely to be for their furnishings.
However they have many baubles for around £3 and they even do packs as well. Lots of variety is on display with quite a big focus on traditional Christmas staples such as snowmen and reindeers.
There is a click and collect option with no minimum order value with delivery to most of their stores which is a great option for keeping the costs down and delivery if needed is likely to be £3.95, which is very reasonable.
Lots of stony and blue colours for a majority of their decorations which goes great with pretty much any home colour scheme.
Known for the handiness of their items in store I would expect them to make good quality baubles that last.
They are not just a one trick pony!
B&Q
Again a famous a UK brand but this one is mainly known for DIY (that’s even their website domain!) but B&Q have baubles for a similar price as Dunelm and they do multipacks as well ,very good if you are on a budget. They have a few sales on at the moment as well so you can even get great looking baubles for £1.50!
Click and collect is free on most items which is a bonus too.
Lots of bright colours here and various animals baubles are available such as polar bears, gingerbread men and others.
Famous of their long lasting items I would be hopeful the items would last a good few years too.
Great to get some Christmas decorations as well as handy home items at the same time!
In conclusion whatever your budget you are likely to have a great looking home and tree if you are looking in the right place. Anything can look great with a little effort!

I love Gisels Graham baubles, they’re reasonably priced when you want to find 1 or 2 items each year.
A couple of investment pieces each year can really build up a beautiful collection.
I love Flying Tiger but it recently closed down in my local city! I used to go there literally just to visit. They had some lovely items and their candles were top-tier!
Oh no! You might have to treat yourself to a little online order!

I love this! There are so many great things to decorate our homes with at Christmas that also come in varying price thresholds; you really can find something to suit your taste/budget. I like the idea of having a luxury/more expensive item that becomes an heirloom piece to pass through the family. I might have to look into doing this!
Yes having a more special piece to pass down is a great idea and a wonderful investment. My Dad still has a lot of the decorations his mum put up when he was a child.
