5 magical places I’d like to visit at Christmas

8 December 2020 Comments : 28

Christmas is such a magical time isn’t it? I love nothing more than that cozy, homely feeling created by the glow of the tree lights. It’s no secret that I’m an absolute homebody but I do love travelling too. There are some absolute beautiful places around the world that just completely encapsulate Christmas and the magic surrounding the festive season. With that in mind, here are 5 beautifully magical places I’d like to visit at Christmas.

New York, USA

I’ve always wanted to visit New York but New York at Christmas is just something else. I guess I can blame all those Christmas movies for giving me an idealistic view of the city at Christmas but I’ve been completely swept away by it and it’s one of my biggest dreams that I hope becomes a reality one day. From the Rockefeller skating rink and Christmas tree to the magnificent festive window display and department stores. I want to see it all.

Nuremburg, Germany

I absolutely love Christmas markets. All the delicious food, warming drinks and wonderfully unique gifts. Visiting a Christmas market is one of my all time favourite festive activities. So what would be better than visiting a proper German Christmas market actually in Germany?! Germany is another destination high up on my list of places to visit and not only does Nuremburg look to be a beautiful, picturesque town but it’s host to one of the oldest Christmas markets in the whole of Germany.

Lapland, Finland

I’ve always wanted to go on a snowy holiday and what better place to do so than Lapland?! I can only begin to imagine just how magical Lapland is. From all the fun of Santa Claus and the reindeer to seeing the Northern Lights. Imagine staying in a cosy cabin with a log fire and spending your days going on reindeer sleigh rides are husky sledding. I could cry at how beautifully magical it all seems. I’d definitely revert to being a kid again, although I strongly believe that there’s nothing wrong with finding Christmas magical as an adult.

Walt Disney World, USA

Long time readers will already know of my love for Disney World. It’s such a magical place so I imagine when Christmas is thrown into the mix it’s absolutely wonderful. My fiancé has actually being to Disney World for Christmas and I have to admit I am quite jealous. I’m definitely hoping it’s a trip we can make together one day. I adore our Disney World holidays and Christmas has some pretty special dates for us, we get engaged in December and we started dating in December so it’s definitely something I would like to do one day. Knowing how emotional I already get at Disney World I can only imagine how much I would cry if we visited at Christmas!

Strasbourg, France

Another European Christmas market destination! Strasbourg looks beyond pretty and I just know I’d end up taking hundreds of pictures. This city borders France and Germany and their Christmas market looks epic with influences from both countries. An entire Christmas village is created around the city at different locations and it would be amazing to make my way around them all and soak up the festive fun and picturesque surroundings. With some mulled wine in my hands of course!

So there you go, five magical Christmas destinations I would love to visit one day. I can’t even explain to you have much this has made me want to travel. I absolutely love Christmas and to visit such beautiful places at my favourite time of the year would just be a dream come true.

Where would you like to visit at Christmas? Have you ever been to any of these places? Tell me in the comments!

This post just made me want to pack my bags and just leave. It is almost exactly a year since I last traveled. I went to Hallstatt, Austria. I can’t wait to travel again.

These are some lovely destinations. I’ve always wanted to go to Finland and stay in one of those glass roofed igloos. It looks amazing.

I love a Christmas trip and winding around the Xmas markets. These are some beautiful places – and I’ve always wanted to see NYC at XMas time – imagine Times Square in the snow xx

New York, Disneyland and Lapland are top of my list! We have been thinking about Lapland as our honeymoon next year as it’s a winter wedding.

Have you watched the TV show about decorating Disney for the holidays? It looks AMAZING!!!

I’ve been to Walt Disney World at Christmas, I was in Florida for a holiday just after Christmas years ago when I was a kid and Walt Disney World is truly more magical at this time of year, just amazing! x

I’ve been to New York a few times now but I still would LOVE to visit at Christmas. Also, I looked a few years ago and it wasn’t too bad price wise. It’s an amazing city, you will enjoy a trip there so much. When I was younger we went to Califonia for two christmasses and it was so good! Breakaway from the traditional stay at home Christmas, but totally worth it. We went into Disney on Christmas day and it was PACKED oh my gosh – it wasn’t about being able to go on loads of rides that day it was just the atmosphere – so cool! Really want to go back to Disney California :'(

That sounds amazing, I’ve got no doubt Disney World would be packed too but you’re right it’s just about the atmosphere rather than getting on rides.

As much as I’m not fussed on travelling, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to New York at Christmas. It features in so many movies and I would just love to be a part of it one Christmas! The other options look really lovely too, great suggestions 🙂
