7 small businesses I’m supporting this Christmas

26 November 2020 Comments : 5

A lot of people are making a conscious effort to support more small businesses this Christmas than ever before. Myself included. Not only do small businesses offer wonderfully unique products with love poured into them, but a lot of small businesses owners have had a tough year. With that in mind here are 7 small businesses that I’m supporting this year.

Shop small this Christmas

Obviously I would have loved to have supported even more if I could. However I wanted to make this post about the businesses I’ve already ordered from or am planning to order from very soon. I’ve discovered some truly wonderful small businesses this year and I’m so pleased with everything I’ve ordered so far. For the things I haven’t yet ordered, I know I won’t be disappointed as I’ve been following the businesses for a while and can see how much love and work goes into everything they do. I’m not going to lie, a lot of the stuff I’ve ordered are gifts to myself but it still counts and treating yourself at Christmas is great!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Candle

I’ve followed Bibbidi Bobbidi Candle for a little while now on Instagram. I’ve always been in awe of their wonderful packaging and rave reviews. When I spotted that their Baby Yoda candle was being released again I knew I had to make an order. I ended up buying three candles and if they burn well and smell good I know I’ll be back for more (though I’ve got no doubt they will looking at all the great reviews they get).

I bought the Baby Yoda one which has a really nice masculine smell to it and a super cute picture of Baby Yoda on the jar. Christmas at Fozziwig as my Christmas candle which smells boozy, Christmas and wonderful. Then I picked a third one up as a gift. I can’t say what it was in case that person is reading this post and realises it’s for them!

If you keep an eye on their Instagram or their Facebook page they always update when the shop will be getting stocked with new stuff and what will be going on so you don’t miss out on anything.

AlicexLizzy

Alice’s business is one I’ve followed pretty much from the start. She designs and makes polyclay earrings and has some beautiful, unique designs. There’s been several pairs that have popped up that I’ve loved. However when she released a collection of gold leaf earrings I knew I had to grab a pair.

I’ve gone for a beautiful black and gold leaf pair with a gold spike. What I really loved about these earrings was the option to have the studs made out of stainless steel or silver. I have really sensitive skin and a lot of earrings make my ears itchy so it was nice to be able to opt for silver studs.

Papio Press

Papio Press is a very recent discovery for me and I found them when an Instagram advert for the monthly subscription box from the Papergang popped up randomly one day. I thought that artwork and stationary included in the box were stunning and I loved the woodland theme and foxes. I love that sort of look at I’m a little obsessed with foxes at the moment. From there I found that the designers were Papio Press and I started following them. They make all sorts from stationary to enamel pins and bobble hats and they’re artwork is incredible.

I’m hoping to pick myself up one of the bobble hats before Christmas because I love a good bobble hat and the designs on theirs are gorgeous. I highly recommend checking them out and seeing how many beautiful products they have to offer.

Bubble Trouble

Bubble Trouble is another business that started just this year and that I’ve followed from the beginning. They make the most gorgeous bath bombs and their Christmas collection is super cute. Even though they only have a small number of bath bombs right now, I’m super excited to see where this little business goes in the future.

Bubble Trouble bath bombs are all handmade using gentle and natural ingredients that are ethically sourced and cruelty free. All of their packaging is eco-friendly too!

Mrs Mac Candles

I love wax melts. I actually prefer using melts over candles but I’d been struggling to find good quality melts that actually had a strong scent throw. It was actually my mum who discovered Mrs Mac and after she started raving about all her melts I went ahead and ordered a load of Christmas wax melts. This was back in October so I knew I’d want to save the Christmas melts until nearer the festive season so I ordered a couple of non Christmas scents to try out too.

Wow are these melts amazing. I’m actually about to start melting the ones from the Christmas collection but if they’re as good as the others I’ve already used then my house is going to smell so festive! The scent throw is super strong. You get two discs to a packet and I usually melt one full disc at a time. I’ve found I can get 3-4 melts out of a disc the and the scent still be strong which is incredible.

Darling Bun Wraps

Darling Bun Wraps is a lovely little business I found on Instagram. She makes bun wraps which are traditionally used by dancers to wrap around their buns (obviously). I was after something pretty for my niece who is a dancer so I asked Kirsty to make two custom bun wraps to match the colours in my nieces dance uniform.

Not only are the bun wraps super cute but Kirsty kept in constant contact throughout and sent through pictures before posting to check if I was happy with them. I asked for a little more sparkle and within half an hot she’d got back to me with my photos with the added sparkle on the wraps! Absolutely great customer service!

The Christmas Imaginarium

Instagram adverts are to blame for this discovery too! When I set up my Halloween and Christmas Instagram I kept saying an advert from a store called The Christmas Imaginarium advertising the most beautiful looking Christmas book. Well curiosity got the better of me and I soon discovered that the store is actually a cute little year round Christmas store based on the Isle of Wight and owned by author, Russell Ince. Not only does he run the store but he always writes Christmas books and a Christmas magazine!

I immediately put an order in for two copies of his latest book, Santa Clause and the First Christmas Eve. I got one for myself and one as an early Christmas present for my mum. It’s such a beautiful book and I can’t wait to read it!
