Now that the temperatures are beginning to drop and the darker evenings are here, you may be starting to think about how you can make your home as cosy as possible ready for the winter months. The winter is such a magical time of the year, but if your home is not winter-ready, it can spoil your enjoyment of the season.

If you are planning to spend this winter feeling warm and snug at home, these tips to get your home ready for winter will help you to do just that, so why not read on for some inspiration to get your house prepared for the cosiest time of the year:
Ditch the draughts
If your home is feeling chilly, then you are probably keen to get this resolved before the freezing temperatures set in. The draughtiness that you are experiencing in your home could be due to your windows and doors not fitting correctly, or no longer functioning as well as they should. Having new windows and doors installed can make a massive difference to the warmth of your home and help to improve its energy efficiency, both of which are crucial when trying to heat your home over the winter. This is an expensive time of the year so choosing Interest Free Windows & Doors is an excellent way to get them fitted in time for winter.
Check your heating
No one wants their boiler to break at any time of the year, but during the winter a boiler break down can be a real nightmare. You don’t want to come home to a freezing house and wake up to a freezing shower each morning. To ensure that your central heating is working when you need it the most, it is crucial to book in to have your boiler serviced by an engineer with the appropriate qualifications. This will make sure that your heating system is not only fully-functioning but also safe to use. If you don’t have one already, it is also advisable to get a carbon monoxide alarm fitted to help keep your family safe.
Add some extra cosiness
If the idea of sipping hot chocolate on your sofa surrounded by home comforts is your idea of winter bliss, then why not add some extra cosiness this winter? Buying some supersoft and snuggly throws and cushions is an excellent way to add some texture and warmth to get winter-ready. If you want to add an extra treat for your senses, how about introducing some gorgeous candles to produce a warm glow and winter-inspired scent to your home?
Don’t forget that it isn’t just you that likes to wrap up warm over the winter months; it is also a good idea to keep your home’s pipes warm too! Lagging your pipes to insulate them should help to prevent any burst pipes occurring when temperatures reach freezing.
Once your home is winter-ready, all that is left to do is to relax and enjoy this wonderful time of the year.

I live in a very old house with many ways the cold wind can find its way in. We try to find ways to stop this too but I’m hoping one day the landlord will do some upkeep on the place and make it energy efficient! We invested in some good curtains to try and help a bit, which they do as I love being cosy during these cold months!
Yes curtains are a great tips for when the wind finds it’s way in around the windows. They definitely make things feel a littler cosier. I hope your landlord fixes things up for you though!
Great ideas! I live in an apartment and have no control over the heat, but I love the idea of adding some throws and cushions to cozy it up a little.
Oh that must be difficult!
