Lush’s Angels On Bare Skin is a product I’ve used on and off for a few years now. It’s perfect for brightening up your skin. It provides a gentle scrub without any harsh, artificial ingredients. It’s a product I highly recommend having as part of your skincare routine. Here’s my review of the Lush Angels On Bare Skin cleanser.
About Angels on Bare Skin
Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin (£9 for 100g or £22.50 for 250g) is a product I reach for a lot in summer when my favourite cleanser, Ultrabland can be a bit too heavy to use during the day in the hot weather. It’s my summer daytime cleanser. When I switch to using Ultrabland twice a day in the colder months I still like to keep a pot of this in my skincare stash for brightening up my skin and buffing away dead skin. It’s also amazing to use with Ultrabland as part of a double cleanse.
Angels on Bare Skin is one of Lush’s fresh products meaning it has quite a short use by date. Lush recommend using the product within three months of manufacture All Lush products come with a manufacturing date sticker anyway so you’ll know your product is still nice and fresh.
Angels on Bare Skin ingredients: ground almonds, glycerine, kaolin, water, lavender oil, rose absolute, chamomile blue oil, tagetes oil, benzoin resinoid, lavender flowers, limonene, linalool.
How to use Angels on Bare Skin
As you can see from the first picture of the product above, its texture is a little unusual in that you take part of it and make it into a paste yourself with water. I take a pinch of the cleanser and add a drop of water and rub it together to make a paste. I like it to be quite thick rather than watery so you can always add more water to get your desired texture. Once it’s been made it into a paste a massage it around my face in gentle, circular movements. I remove the cleanser with warm water and a flannel.
My skin always feels soft and smooth after using this cleanser. I have very sensitive skin and I find this a really gentle, but effective cleanse.
The pros and cons of Angels on Bare Skin
Now I love this cleanser, I wouldn’t be reviewing it if I didn’t! I’m certainly not a beauty blogger so I don’t review products I don’t absolutely love.
There is just one con for me though, this cleanser is messy! Because you have to make it into a paste yourself and it’s packed with natural ingredients like the lavender flowers and grounds almonds there’s a tendency for quite a lot of fall out from the product when you’re making it into a paste and rubbing it onto your face. It’s always best to give your sink a quick wipe down after you’ve used this cleanser!
Another thing to note, which isn’t really a con but something to keep in mind is the use by date. If you’re only using this occasionally like me then there’s no need to spend money on the larger version of this because it won’t all get used before the expiry date. I only ever buy the smaller pot of this cleanser.
Now onto the good stuff. I love the smell of this cleanser, it’s got such a calming, soothing scent which matches how it makes your skin feel. For people whose skin is easily irritated, this is another wonderfully gentle product from Lush that works wonders. I’ve already mentioned it makes for a great double cleanse alongside Ultrabland. Both cleansers are super gentle but highly effective which is what makes me love them so much.
Scrubs can get a bad rap in the beauty world for being harsh on skin. Also over recent years it was discovered that a lot of scrubs contained plastic microbeads which are extremely harmful for the environment. I grew up with the sandpaper scrub that was the St Ives Apricot Scrub (hands up if you used this when you were a teenager too!). Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin couldn’t be any further from this harsh, artificial scrubs many of us grew up with. It’s 100% natural and super gentle.

I’ve used this cleanser for a while and I loved what it did to my skin! It seemed to minimise my pores more than any other product I’ve used. I don’t mind it being messy at all, but I believe the almond bits in it may have clogged the drain! I don’t use it anymore, but would highly recommend it. The reason I stopped using it was that I wanted to buy from local businesses, and with the pandemic and lockdowns I had to buy it online from England. Now I’ve found some brilliant skincare products from Irish companies that I use instead.
Oh no, I never thought about it blocking the drain! I’m glad you’ve managed to find some skincare products you love in Ireland though.
