5 steps to a dreamy front door

With summer here, it’s the ideal time to take on some fun home improvement projects that will brighten up your home and make it feel fresh and lovely.

How to create the perfect welcoming front door

One of the easiest and most affordable home improvements you can make is to transform your front door. It’s the first thing that people see when they come to your home, so it makes sense that it looks good. There are plenty of easy ways you transform your front door and give your home a wonderful new look.

Ready to get started? Here are five steps to a dreamy front door.

Clean it up

The first thing you need to do is clean up your front door. With the weather as unpredictable as it is in the UK, you’ll find all kinds of dirt and grime once you start scrubbing away. For stubborn stains, try using something like The Pink Stuff to give it a really good clean. If your walls and pathway are also showing signs of tough dirt and stains, you could always use a jet washer to blow it all away!

Add a fresh coat of paint

Painting your front door is an easy and affordable way to leave it looking nice and new again. From pastel shades to a statement door colour, you’ll find plenty of ideas and inspiration for how you can transform yours. Painting isn’t just for wooden doors either – you can now find PVC-friendly paint that will make your door look brand new again.

Create your own floral wreath

A floral wreath makes a great feature on your front door, and isn’t just something for the winter months. You can buy cheap summer wreaths or make your own with some simple items and flowers from your garden to create a stylish, chic decoration. Just be prepared for all of your neighbours and friends to want one too!

Frame it with some plants

Plants bring warmth to your home, and they can really transform the outside of it. A couple of potted plants either side of the door look fantastic, or you could line your pathway with some Taxus Baccata to create a polished, ornate look. Plants will need some maintenance to keep them looking their best, but provided you water them regularly, it should be easy to keep them fresh.

Treat yourself to a new welcome mat

Finally, every front door needs a welcome mat! There are a lot of fun welcome mats out there that will be a lovely addition to your front door. Choose your favourite style for a simple touch that will put a smile on your face whenever you come home.

Updating your front door can be a simple and lovely way to refresh your home. If you have a front garden too, you can learn some simple landscaping tips to help you keep your front home looking its best all year round. With just a little bit of work, you’ll have the perfect entrance to your home that will delight anyone who sees it!

Updating our front door is something that’s been on my to-do list for a while now, it certainly needs a new lick of paint! How you make the front of your home welcoming? Let me know in the comments.

It’s amazing what a simple wreath and cute doormat can do! I am renting my current place otherwise I’d definitely want a bright colored door in a fun color 🙂

A dreamy front door sounds awesome. I’d do that to our house if I can convince the people here to let me. 😀

Interesting post! I’d never really thought of redoing my front door but while I am on a “let’s redo the whole house” rampage, I think i’m going to have to give it a bit of a touch up! Our door is plastic so I can’t really paint it but I am so excited to get some hanging baskets and add some colour!
