This year is just going by faster than the speed of light isn’t it? This month it’ll be Halloween then we’ll be on the countdown to Christmas. I honestly cannot get over how quick this year has gone. September had a definite Halloween theme for me and although the weather was certainly not autumnal (where did all the sun and hot weather appear from?!) I was full on ready for the best season.
If you’ve been around here for a while then you’ll know how much I love this time of year. And even though the weather did not feel autumnal in the slightest, it didn’t stop me from doing some serious Halloween shopping in September. I got so many new Halloween-y things which makes me very happy!
So let’s get into how September went.

1. Over the last few months I’ve developed a bit of an addiction to Dole Wicks candles. Their wax melt boxes are a real bargain at £10 and in September I picked up the autumn box and treated myself to their cute pumpkin season mug too. Their Halloween box was released at the end of September so I snapped that up as well, though that won’t arrive until October. I think a may have to put in a sizeable Christmas order too when their Christmas collection comes out. Though there are lots of companies offering Disney themed candles and wax melts, Dole Wicks is by far the best one I’ve come across and they’ve definitely got a loyal customer in me now!
2. We spent quite a lot of time with our niece and nephew in September which was lovely. We enjoyed a day out to a wildlife park and they both had so much fun. After missing out an a big chunk of time with them and not being able to do things with them over the various lockdowns, it’s so nice spending days with them.
3. As I’ve already mentioned, September was the month for spooky shopping and I ended up treating myself to quite a few new bits and pieces. I just cannot resist anything Halloween related though! I’ve wrote whole blog post about the new homeware bits I bought and some autumn/Halloween clothes too so I highly recommend checking that out.
4. I had a beautiful trinket dish and keyring made out of our dried petal confetti from our wedding and I love them. They’re a great little reminder of our wedding day and I’m so glad our gorgeous confetti gets to be preserved forever.
5. I did something I rarely ever do in September and I bought some books! I love reading but I have a Kindle as there’s simply not room in my house for all the books I want to read. However after I read Where The Crawdads Sing in summer I knew I needed to own a copy of it. I also added two other books to my order. The Trick or Treat one I’ve wanted since last Halloween and the cover for The Cat Who Saved Books. I’ve heard it’s a lovely story too.
6. Just after we got married we decided to set up a date night jar with lots of different restaurants in it and around the same time each month we’re going to pick one out and go out for some delicious food and drinks. At the end of September we picked out the first restaurant and had a lovely date night.
7. When I saw Alice Lizzy’s Halloween collection I absolutely could not pass up on these cute earrings. I already have some Alice Lizzy earrings which I love and the pumpkins and ghosts were far too adorable to pass up on!
So that was September. It was the first month back at work after the summer holidays so I’ve been trying to find that balance again. I have an absolute jam packed October lined up for you with lots of autumnal and Halloween content which I’m super excited to publish. I’m also running 100 miles for Mind in October too so I’m certainly going to be having a very busy month!
How was September for you? Let me know in the comments!

I also splurged on some books in September! It was my self care gift for the month. I bought them at thriftbooks at a steal!!
I love that you buy yourself a self care gift of the month! That’s such a great idea.
This is a fun update. Have a lovely Autumn.
Thanks, you too!
Sounds like September was a lot of fun! So cool to have got your confetti into a keyring/trinket dish 🙂 xx
Thanks. It’s been a lovely way to preserve our confetti.
I don’t know what’s going but it’s going fast like crazy. We are already 10 days in this month already lol a Great list by the way.
Thanks! I know, this year has just disappeared.
It sounds like September was a lovely month – I love the date idea jar and it sounds like it was a lovely first date out from the jar! It’s also lovely you got to pick up some books to read and I hope you enjoy them as you make your way through reading them! Happy Autumn 🙂
Thank you! The date night jar has been a great idea.
