6 Ways to Make a Statement in Your Space

Ever walked into a room so jaw-droppingly stylish that you immediately felt a twinge of interior design envy? What if you could have that reaction when you walked into your own home? You can! How? By making a statement in your space. Not sure how to do that? Here are some excellent ideas to get you started.

1. Start with a (Colour) Bang

If you want to make a statement, then you need to forget about subtlety and go for colours that make an immediate impact; colours that really pop and let people know that you go bold in your home. Deep navy, fiery terracotta, or even jungle green can all make a room instantly more lively and more memorable, whether on a single feature wall or used more widely throughout the room. So, be brave and go bold.

2. One Word: Textures

If you’re nervous about big colours or wild prints, why not make a statement with texture? Chunky knitted throws, velvet cushions, reclaimed wood coffee tables—layering these tactile elements creates an inviting space that guests will want to stroke (and yes, that might get awkward, but that’s half the fun, right?). Mix and match textures to keep things fresh; think cool metal lighting paired with plush rugs, or glass accents set against raw brick walls.

3. The Power of a Statement Sofa

Never underestimate the allure of a standout piece of furniture. You don’t have to cram every centimetre of your living room with “statement” items—one show-stopper can do the trick. For instance, a luxury bespoke sofa can anchor the whole space, transforming your lounge into something magazine-worthy. When guests walk in, it’ll be the first thing they notice—and possibly the last thing they’ll want to leave.

4. Artwork That Speaks Volumes

Choose artwork that actually means something to you. Maybe it’s a massive abstract print that reminds you of a holiday, or a selection of smaller pieces that tell a story. The key is to steer clear of generic mass-produced stuff that everyone and their second cousin has. Display your favourites in a gallery wall formation, or let one big canvas do all the talking.

5. Greenery (and Not the Plastic Kind)

A little greenery can go a long way in livening up a room. Real plants not only purify the air (bonus!) but also add a splash of vibrant colour. From statement palms that nearly touch the ceiling to dainty succulents perched on shelves, the right plants can help your space feel both homely and sophisticated. Just remember to water them—or, if you really can’t be trusted, opt for low-maintenance species like snake plants or ZZ plants (yes, that’s a real thing).

6. Personal Touches = The Real Magic

Finally, don’t forget that the best interiors are a reflection of you. Display quirky travel souvenirs, treasured family heirlooms, or even your vinyl record collection in pride of place. It’s those personal elements that transform a house into a home, making it uniquely inviting—and a definite conversation starter at your next gathering.

Time to give your home the “WOW” factor!
