We enjoy our gardens in the summer months – those lazy days bathing under the sun; having weekend barbecues – but during the chillier seasons, we spend more time looking for ways to cosy up our homes instead of ways to enjoy our garden. It’s understandable; when it’s nippy outside, there is a preference to stay indoors. Still, it would be a shame to neglect your garden, especially when it still has much to offer. Here are some ideas for enjoying your garden, despite the cold!
#1: Find a room with a view
Sure, our gardens look beautiful in the warmer months, especially when the sky is warm and bright, with the sun beaming down on the flowers and plants we have so carefully arranged for our pleasure. But our gardens can still look lovely when it’s cold. Take a look at these ideas, for example, and you will soon be able to create something worth looking at. Of course, all of your hard work will be for nought if you’re forever curled up in front of the fire in your living room, so consider finding a place in your home where you can fully enjoy your garden’s beauty. And if you don’t have any decent vantage points, consider a home renovation, perhaps with a conservatory, or wider-glazed fixtures such as these aluminium bifold doors, and chill out while looking out at your chilly garden!

#2: Attract wildlife
Add those features that will bring in the wildlife, such as a bird feeder, water bath, and even a hedgehog house, and sit in the comfort of your home and watch as your home becomes a refuge again for birds and any animals that may take an interest. You might want to sit with a pair of binoculars to get an up close and personal look, as well as a notebook to jot down any wild visitor who decides to frequent your home. It’s your personal wildlife park, and you don’t need to spend a fee on any expensive exhibit to gain entry!
#3: Throw a garden party
Provided the air isn’t below freezing point, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t invite friends and family over for a garden party. Sure, they might think you have gone a little bit bonkers, but you and they can still dress up warm for the occasion. Invest in some outdoor furniture, with some comfortable blankets and pillows to keep everybody cosy. Buy some outdoor heaters to warm up the surroundings.
