Well, this Happy List has been delivered in a much more timely fashion than last month! July turned out to be rather an unexpectedly nice month, to be honest. It was my birthday month but I had zero plans due to all the travelling and other exciting things we’ve done/are still to do this year. So it was just a quiet one, turning 33 and wondering how I’m almost in my mid-thirties now! Here’s my July recap!
1. I’m going to start with something that was a big personal achievement for me in July. After 13 years of blogging, I had my most successful month with Laureny Loves…! This blog was never meant to be a job but when I quit my job last year I hoped that blogging might become a little bit more of a feature in my daily work life so I loved all the blogging jobs I got last month. I know it’s not all about money but I not only made the most I’ve ever made from blogging but I also landed my biggest ever paid blogging job too and I’m not going to shy away from the fact that I’m really bloody proud of that! August is shaping up well so far, so I’m kind of hoping that this month will take over July to become my new most successful month!
2. Speaking of blogging becoming (hopefully) more of a focal point in my career, I’ve taken on the mammoth task of revamping my wedding blog, The Thrifty Bride. Although I’ve had a lot of success with that in terms of awards and press coverage. It doesn’t earn much, if anything each month and a lot of posts on there were just written with zero SEO knowledge. So I’m rewriting a lot of content on there in the hopes of seeing better results from searches! It’s a big task but I’m really pleased with the revamped content I’ve put out so far!
3. July saw another little trip on the cards. We headed to Liverpool for a few days as my husband was photographing a Bootleg Beatles concert at the M&S Banks Arena! Super proud of him for that! If you’ve been around here a while then you’ll know how much we love Liverpool anyway so I was never going to grumble at a few days away there. It was a nice little break from work for me and a great little portfolio opportunity for my husband. I went to the concert as we’ve actually seen The Bootleg Beatles a few times before and it was really good. We also went to Junkyard Golf and the World Museum. There’ll be some vlogs from Liverpool over on our YouTube channel in a few weeks!
4. We had a big cat breakthrough in July! Thomas has been living with us for just over a year now and while he and Buddy get on well, Dobby has always tried to stay out of his way. They don’t dislike each other but Dobby was very unsettled when Thomas first moved in and he’s not a very sociable cat. Recently they’ve been laying close-ish together with no problems and then one day in July they just snuggled up next to one another and went to sleep! It hasn’t happened since but the warm weather hit not long after so they’ve all been liking their own space but it was a proud cat mama moment for sure!
5. As I mentioned I turned 33 at the end of the month. It was a quiet one as we just went to the cinema and for some drinks, but a nice day nonetheless. We have so much going on this year that I told my husband not to bother with gifts and stuff. I may have got myself a few little treats though haha and I gave myself the day off work on the Friday before my birthday to have a little browse around the shops and go to Starbucks.
Overall, July was a lovely month and it was definitely nice to get some summer weather toward the end of it too!
