Happy List: June 2020

30 June 2020 Comments : 33

Whereas May felt like a really long month, June has just flown by and here we are on the final day of the month! I’m back in work full time now and I’m just absolutely craving a little normality and having plans and things to look forward to. This constant cycle of just going to work and coming home isn’t doing me any good. Anyway, enough of that, June was pretty good to be fair so lets take a look!

For the first time I set myself some blogging goals for the month. It’s hard working and trying to run a blog I’m not going to lie but I don’t think there’s any shame in saying I want to build this blog and earn more money from it so I know I need to work hard. I think it was good to set goals but given that this month was when I went back to work full time I think they were maybe a little over ambitious. I will set some goals for next month again though.

1 . June got off to a great start with an order from the local bakery that opened back up. Josh went for cupcakes and I went for brownies. They were delicious but I definitely want to try baking my own brownies next. I have 3 weeks left at work before the summer holidays (I work in a school) so I think I may dedicate some time in the summer break to perfect a brownie recipe!

2. Bit of an odd entry but an Aldi opened up right behind our house this month. There’s been plans for it since we bought our house 4 years ago so we’ve been waiting a long time for it. You can tell I’ve nothing else to do because Aldi has basically become my second home. I can’t get enough of those special buys though haha. Oh and the amazing gin selection of course!

3. My handsome fur babies celebrated their 4th birthdays this month. It feels like they were only kittens two minutes ago. I always feel like I have to point out they are in fact same litter brothers so they do have the same birthday because they look so different.

4. May’s Minnie Mouse The Main Attraction pins arrived and they are my favourite ones yet. Unfortunately we completely forgot about the June release and missed out. Luckily it wasn’t a set we really wanted but it’s a little annoying we won’t have all 12 sets now.

5. I stepped out of my comfort zone this month and wrote a fashion post. I am not a fashion blogger by any stretch of the imagination but I was actually really happy with how the photos turned out, even though I felt super awkward. I’d definitely be happy to do more fashion posts in the future.

6. I’ve been trying out some craft beers this month, I’m not a beer drinker but I don’t mind fruity beers so I headed to my new favourite places, Aldi and picked up a selection and I think I may have found my new summer drink, Innis and Gunn Mangoes On The Run. It’s amazing!

7. We received some wonderful magic mail from our friends David and Ian. It was a lovely surprise and the parcel was packed with some amazing things. I’m wanting to create a Disney/nerdy gallery wall eventually so the prints will be getting saved for that.

8. I went shopping for the first time in months. Up until that point I hadn’t left my village for other 3 months and it was such a welcome change to do something normal for once. I went on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet and really well organised. There were no queues outside of the shops, lots of hand sanitiser stations and a one way system in place. I picked up a few things I needed such as some new work clothes and skincare and I had to get a new pair of bride flips flops because I wore my last pair to do the gardening and they got wrecked!

To say I wasn’t really looking forward to June it turned out to be pretty great. I actually managed to complete all the blog goals I set myself though I was just a tiny bit short on some of the numbers. Numbers aren’t everything but it is good to see growth. This seems like a good time to mention that you can currently get 20% off my blogging ebook, enter the code ‘blog20’ at the checkout and start improving your blog today.

It’s my birthday at the end of July so hopefully next month turns out to be good too! How was June for you? Let me know in the comments!

Those brownies look so delicious! I have posted a brownie recipe recently which makes the best brownies (and you can change up the chocolate you put in). I have been setting blog goals recently and I really do think that it pushes me more which is great! Excited to see what the next month will bring!

I saw your brownie recipe the other day and I’ll definitely be making them when I’ve got some time off work because they looked amazing! Yes I feel the same with blog goals.

I am 100% backing you that aldi opening nearby is amazing.
I’ve not been since Lockdown but before I was in aldi every week doing the shop, I absolutely love it! Even got the dog a toy there that lasted longer than a bigger, well known brand!!

Love this! I’m the same with not leaving the house in months. I’ve been furloughed since lockdown began and I’ve just been in my bedroom or the front room since, hopefully, things will begin to start to become normal! I’ve been writing restaurant reviews but I still think it’s weird as we won’t be able to visit them straight away! Thanks for sharing! X

Well as long as it makes you happy it doesn’t matter! People will want to visit restaurants again some day.

Thank you! I’ve been doing it for years. Pretty much since I started blogging 9 years ago. It used to be weekly but it’s been monthly for a very long time now. I think it’s a nice thing to do at the end of each month.

I still feel like we’re in March some days! But looking back at the good moments between then and now really does help! ♥️

So lovely to receive such a cool package from your friends!!

it sounds like you had a great run in June! Also I know what you mean about wanting to earn from your blog more – same as me! But yes could be a struggle running a blog and working full time. We will get there with some determination for sure though.😊

So nice to hear about some positives! I’m so jealous about your furbabies. We were meant to get a cat pre-lockdown but it didn’t happen in time! I’ve got a great one pot brownie recipe if you want to try it out! It always gets rave reviews, is super simple and it’s one pot so cuts down on the washing up! Aldi is one of my faves too. They especially have great diffusers and candles. I order them in bulk and get so excited when they arrive!
