Happy List: December 2022

4 January 2023 Comments : 12

Happy New Year! This is the last of the Happy Lists for 2022 but it’s always very strange writing December’s list in a new year and it being quite a festive list! It’s just the way things work out though. December was a wild one with lots of ups and downs but ultimately it’s my favourite month so it was always going to be pretty positive on the whole. So lets zip back to the Christmas festivities and take a look at December shall we?!

If you read November’s Happy List you’ll know that I mentioned having the super cold everyone seemed to have. Well that super cold got me good and proper and at the start of December it turned into a double ear infection and a chest infection. All at the same time. I have never felt so poorly. I still haven’t fully regained my hearing now so I think I’m going to need to check what’s going on with that but thankfully around 10 days before Christmas I started feeling human again so at least I could enjoy the best time of the year. I was a little gutted as I love the run up to Christmas and couldn’t fully enjoy it with being so ill. I also didn’t get any of my planned Christmas content out on the blog. Oh well, there’s always Christmas 2023!

Aside from illness, December was actually really lovely, so here’s a run down:

1. Despite having a raging ear infection just starting, all the Christmas decorations went up the first weekend of December. I just love having the decorations up and the cosy glow of the tree lights and candles on an evening. I really miss that cosiness when the decorations come down.

2. I bought Buddy a new little Christmas outfit this year with a jacket and a Santa scarf. I laughed so much when he had it on. Dobby isn’t a fan of outfits but he did have the scarf on for a little while until he though it was a toy!

3. Thankfully all the infections I had started to clear up in time for me to have my annual Christmas day out with my dad. This year we headed to Castle Howard for their Into The Woods: A Fairytale Christmas display. We’ve done Castle Howard a few times now and it never disappoints, it’s just absolutely beautiful at Christmas. This years display was very magical and it really helped me to feel festive after being so ill.

4. Christmas went the same as it usually does for us as we only ever have Christmas dinner together. We do have family round in the morning but we keep dinner just for us. In the evening we headed out to Josh’s brothers for drinks and games.

Overall December was lovely. Once I started to feel better I could properly throw myself into the best time of the year and make some fun, festive memories.

I hope you all had a lovely December and a wonderful Christmas. Let me know what you got up to in the comments!

Lovely list 😊 I honestly don’t know a single human that got through December without being ill – I’m STILL trying to take back control of my sinuses 😂

I’m glad you are feeling better now, poor you though! The run-up to Christmas is my favourite part too, I wish it wasn’t over now.

Glad to hear you cleared out the bugs before Xmas really got going.
Love the cat outfits too – there’s not a chance we could do that with ours.

Thanks! One of the them isn’t so keen so it’s a quick photo then off, but the black cat loves a good accessory haha!

Aw I love this happy list idea! I created one for 2022, but putting out a bit of positivity every month is a lovely idea. I loved putting up my decorations too x

Thank you! They’re my favourite posts to right, it’s nice to take a bit of time to reflect each month.

Sounds like December was a fab month for you. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Your cat looks so cute! I got that super-flu in December as well which turned into a chest infection that I needed antibiotics for, I never felt so ill in my life, I’ve never had a cough like it, it was outrageous. So a lot of December was taken up with that sodding illness for me!

Having a double ear infection and a chest infection sounds so awful; I am so glad you are doing better now and got to enjoy a good portion of December despite having to cope with being unwell. Here’s to a great (and healthy) January!
