Halloween is the perfect time to have fun in the kitchen and create super fun dishes. The easy go to when it comes to creating Halloween food though is to use pumpkins. They’re in abundance at this time of year and are synonymous with Halloween but pumpkin is not high on on many peoples favourite flavours list. So I wanted to create a list of super tasty recipes with no pumpkins in sight!

By the way if you are a fan of pumpkin, you’re definitely going to want to keep checking back here as I have a recipe round-up post coming your way very soon!
Ghastly chocolate graveyards

A slightly fancier take on the classic Halloween dessert, worms in mud, these chocolate graveyards are perfect to make for a Halloween party. If you’re wanting to make these it’s best to have some jars so get saving those jam jars. This recipe is super easy using an eggless chocolate mousse, gummy worms, white chocolate, Oreos and a chocolate coated biscuit like a Penguin. They’re a good one to make with kids and it’s guaranteed that they’ll love this spooky recipe.

Spider Halloween pizza with black charcoal crust

Don’t be fooled into think this black pizza was left in the oven too long. The homemade pizza dough actually uses activated charcoal powder for it’s colouring. You can top your pizza with anything you like but this recipe uses olives chopped up to make spider shapes. If you don’t like olives though you can chop other things up and easily make them into a spider shape. Oh and don’t worry about the charcoal powder, this ingredient doesn’t have any smell or flavour, it’s purely there for colouring.

Scary spaghetti bolognese

Now how amazing does this look? Purple spaghetti, mozzarella eyeballs and a delicious homemade bolognese sauce all make this a frighteningly fantastic version of a classic dish. The purple spaghetti is made just using food colouring then the eyeballs are simply mozzarella and olives. The bolognese sauce is all homemade using super simple ingredients. Great to serve up for both a Halloween dinner party or for kids. Everyone will love this!

Black magic Halloween sangria

No adult Halloween party is complete without a spooky drink or two and this Halloween sangria is the perfect drink to wow your guests. Serve it up in Halloween themed glasses for that extra spooky touch. This sangria recipe uses vodka and raspberry liqueur alongside raspberries, blackberries, red grapes and apple for a more autumnal twist. If you want to go all out to impress your guests, then Halloween is the perfect time to add dry ice to your cocktails too for a spooky fog effect.

Puff pastry sausage mummies

A super simple but highly effective recipe. Great for Halloween kids parties of a Halloween themed buffet. This recipe uses ready made croissant dough but if you want a less sweeter taste then use ready made puff pastry. Then it’s just a case of getting hot dog sausage and wrapping them up in the pastry to make it look like the bandages of a mummy. The eyes are just candy eyes stuck on with melted cheese. These will go down a storm!

Zombie guts Halloween cinnamon rolls

A delicious red velvet twist on cinnamon rolls gives you “zombie guts”. These look perfectly gross but use a red velvet box cake mix for added taste and colour. Cleverly arranged to look like guts all before baking. The perfect gross but indulgent breakfast idea for Halloween. I think the glaze add an extra layer of gross-ness to this recipe by make the “guts” look slimy!

Crunchy maple toffee apples

One thing I always associate with this time of year is toffee apples (or caramel apples if you’re American). There’s nothing quite like the sweet and juicy toffee apples to really make it feel like autumn. They’re also a recipe that’s great for Halloween and Bonfire Night! What I love about these is the rustic twist of using cleaned branches. It really adds to the whole idea that a witch has cooked these up!

Bloody bone cupcakes

This wouldn’t be a Halloween recipe round-up without cupcakes in there. There’s so many easy ways to give cupcakes a spooky twist but I think think bloody bone recipes looks super effective. The cupcakes used here are just chocolate cupcakes but if you wouldn’t even more “blood” then red velvet cupcakes would be a good substitute. The decoration is a simple vanilla frosting with red food colouring a bone gummies.

Halloween treat platter

So platters are perfect for parties or at home movie nights. They’re a much fancier way of presenting what is essentially just snacks but people love the look of them! This particular platter makes use of the many Halloween themed sweets you can find in stores at this time of year. Then it’s just a case of arranging them on a board to be visually pleasing. This ones a bit of a cheat as there’s no actual cooking involved but I couldn’t not share because of how good it looks!

Candy corn fudge

A double-layered fudge mixed with candy corn pieces. The perfect Halloween themed treat that looks and tastes right for the season. This Halloween fudge is made up of vanilla and chocolate fudge with candy corn pieces mixed in. The uses of Halloween colours in this recipes looks super effective too. Candy corn isn’t a popular treat here in the U.K. but it’s super easy to pick up from American stores both online and in shops.

Oreo mummy truffles

These truffles only use three ingredients and don’t require baking which makes for super simple last minute Halloween recipe if you’re short on time. These are also good to make with young kids thanks to the no baking element. Oreos, cream cheese and white chocolate are all you need to make these spooky mummy heads. A drop of red food colouring gel for the eyes really makes these spooky treats pop.

Spiderweb carrot soup

This soup is pretty simple but is presented really well with a spooky spiderweb theme making it the perfect starter option of a Halloween dinner party. While the soup recipe is quite simple, you will need a skewer to help draw out the perfect spiders web so you may want to practice this part before serving this dish up to guests. Oh and this recipe is fairly healthy too, just a lighter change to all that sugar that’s around for Halloween!

Mummy jalapeno poppers

Mummy’s are a popular theme when it comes to Halloween food but there’s a good reason for that. They’re a simple character to add to lots of different food, but they look really good! These jalapeno poppers are super easy to make but will look great on a Halloween buffet table. They do use candy eyes which probably don’t go too well with the other things but they’re there mainly for decoration so can be taken off before eating.

Ghostly Halloween guacamole

Chips and dip are a great snack option for a Halloween movie night and this chips and guacamole recipe can be whipped up in just 20 minutes! The chips are cut into Halloween shapes and the guacamole is nice and chunky making it a little more filling. The chips will store in an airtight container for up to 3 days too so why not make a batch and have a Halloween movie weekend?!

The Oreo truffles look so good but are ridiculously easy to make.
The charcoal on the pizza crust is a good idea, when I first looked, I thought it was burnt! But that’s an excellent idea, as are the other Halloween recipes x
