Can you tell I was full of optimism and hope when I planned my Blogmas 2020 content? For years now I’ve always kicked December of with a post talking about my plans for the month. December is traditionally a very busy month for us so it’s always fun to talk about all the stuff we have going on. This year is very different though.

I didn’t want to miss doing this post though as it’s a traditional December post for me. Which by the way, happy December everyone and welcome to the first post of Blogmas 2020! (You can catch up on my full schedule for Blogmas if you want to know what’s instore). Don’t worry though this post is not going to be all doom and gloom about all the things I can’t do this month because no one wants that for the very first day of Blogmas do they?!
So anyway, back to the month ahead. I did actually have some plans in place but they’ve gone out of the window now. As much as I’m not going to bring the mood down it would also be wrong of me to dismiss the fact that I am quite upset about this. I love Christmassy days out and it’s something I look forward to the whole year. So the fact that I have no plans this month is a little heart-breaking. Especially when I look back at how fun December 2019 was.
So there won’t be a list of things I’m doing this year because we really can’t do anything, especially as our town is in tier 3. Instead we’re going to make the most of feeling festive because this is my absolute favourite time of year. So here’s what I’m looking forward to in December:
- We’re putting our decorations up a week earlier than usual and we’re even going to pop to the shops and hopefully pick up a few more festive bits for our home. I want to go all out this year.
- I’ve got a bottle of gingerbread mulled wine that I can’t wait to open and try. I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations.
- I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to treat people a little more than usual this Christmas. I absolutely love giving people gifts so I can’t wait for everyone to open their presents!
- I’m just so excited for December as a whole, I absolutely love the run up to Christmas, I actually like it more than Christmas Day itself. I can’t wait for movies, hot chocolates, all the decorations, gifts under the tree and of course all that delicious food.
- I get three weeks of work at Christmas which I absolutely love. I’ve still been going out to work as I can’t work from home and I’m definitely ready for some time off. Roll on the 18th December.
So there are my December plans with a twist this year. I’m so excited that Blogmas has started and I can’t wait to share all my festive posts with you. This is my biggest Blogmas to date!
What are you looking forward to in December? Let me know in the comments!

Sounds like a good month ahead! We decorated early this year too and I’ve also loved getting a start on gifts. Need that cheer this year!
We really do, I can’t wait to put our tree up on Friday!
Great ideas!!
Thanks.
December is my favourite time of year, apart from the heat of course! The kids are on school holidays so there are lazy days swimming and playing under the hose, there are icy poles and Christmas movies, there is baking and making and decorating, and all the parties and music. We also have a birthday in December, so there is a party and cake for home and then for school too, it is one of my busiest months.
That sounds amazing. Though the complete opposite to Christmas in the U.K. it’s freezing here!
Christmas is my absolute favourite time of the year so am a little bit gutted to be missing out on the Christmassy days out and usual festivities. However I am trying to make the most of it and looking forward to a few more cosy days!
I’m glad you’ve taken that approach too!
I think it’s probably more important this year than any other to make sure you’re making plans and trying to do those little things that make you happy at Christmas! I think the lead up to Christmas is so lovely and exciting! x
Oh yes, definitely. Me too, it’s such a lovely time.
I’m sorry, gingerbread mulled wine!? I think I’ve died and gone to heaven! Lovely post, you’ve filled me with optimism for this month!
Rosie
Thank you! I know, I’m hoping it tastes as good as it sounds. I’m going to open it on Friday when we put our decorations up!
I am really excited to *hopefully* head to my parents on Christmas Eve and get all festive. We are Tier3 swell which is super rubbish when last year we were at the Christmas Markets and Christmas Shopping – and I was so excited to take Rosie to see Father Christmas for the first time. X
Oh no I’m really sorry you won’t be able to take Rosie to see Father Christmas. I really hope you get to go to your parents on Christmas Eve though.
Like a good plan post Lauren! The wife and I have been planning our December/Christmas for such a long time, for both the kids and for ourselves. Which like you includes lots of movies, hot chocolates and other yummy things too! Hope your December is just what you want it to be 😊
I hope yours is too and that you and your family manage to have wonderful December and Christmas.
Love your list! I’ve never seen gingerbread mulled wine and that sounds amazing. So THANK YOU for telling me to go out and find some!
I’ll be opening it on Friday when we put up our decorations and I’m very excited to try it!
It sounds like you have a great month ahead. I am so excited for December too it is my favourite month of the year.
I hope to really make the most of this month as it’s my absolute favourite!

Sounds like a lovely Christmas you have planned! I finish on the 18th too! My Christmas feels like it’s going to be extra special this year even though we can’t go out. I’m really going to cherish this one! Have a great blogmas and Christmas!
