Today I have a wonderful guest post from Lindsey who blogs over at the Cozy Stylist. Lindsey has written the most perfect classic American autumn recipe out for you all to enjoy, pumpkin pie!

During the fall season, it seems like pumpkin scented or flavored products are everywhere. There are pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin candles, soaps, cereals, and much more. But what about the original pumpkin recipe that has been around since the very first Thanksgiving? Pumpkin pie is a staple at American Thanksgiving dessert that is served every year at my house. For how delicious the pie is, the recipe is very easy to put together. It’s only 8 ingredients and 3 of those items are fall spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
For this recipe, you will need an unbaked pie crust. I usually buy mine frozen from our local grocery store. It’s up to your baking preferences if you want to make a homemade crust, buy a frozen one, or use a roll-out pre-made crust.
Like many other pies, this pumpkin pie takes a while to bake in the oven. To ensure that the pie crust along the rim of the pan doesn’t burn, cover it with a small aluminum foil shield while its in the oven.
This recipe is a great one to make with your kids at home because all you have to do is put the ingredients in a bowl, mix, bake, and enjoy. You can serve a piece of this pie warm or cold and along side a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. This pumpkin pie recipe is truly delicious.

Ingredients
- 15 ounce can pumpkin puree
- 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 unbaked pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Prepare a pie crust in a pie plate.
- In a medium sized mixing bowl, whisk together pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, spices, and salt until smooth. Pour into pie crust.
- Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking for 35 minutes.. You’ll know it is done when you can tap the middle and it doesn’t jiggle.
- Cool completely before serving.

My husband is IN LOVE with pumpkin pie. That being said, I have never tried making it myself before. With everything up in the air during the holidays this year, maybe I’ll try my hand at it and surprise him with a homemade pumpkin pie… Especially if restrictions prevent us from travelling north to visit family like we usually do (there’s always pumpkin pie at my mom’s house for him when we visit lol)
Making a homemade pie would be a great surprise for him!
I love Pumpkin spice but I have never tried actual pumpkin. I think because it always smells a bit funky when carving pumpkins but I am toying with the idea of holding thanksgiving this year so maybe I do need to make it!
Haha I know what you mean, it definitely smells off putting but I always think pumpkin pie looks delicious!
It does, doesn’t it?!
