Well this is a little bit terrifying isn’t it?! With just under a year to go I’ve decided it’d be a great ideas to take on 12 things little challenges before I’m 30! It’s scary for several reasons; the idea of being 30 is one that fills me with dread and I haven’t exactly given myself much time to complete a list the list. I’ll be honest, that’s why I decided against a 30 before 30. That and I was struggling for ideas! But I’m going to give it my best shot and see how I get on.

As I complete a challenge I’ll edit this post to show it’s been completed. Who knows if I’ll manage all 12 but I’ve got just under 12 months to give it a shot so I should make decent progress.
1. Go somewhere on my own
I don’t do going out on my own, like don’t get me wrong I’ll go shopping on my own and stuff but the idea of going for a coffee on my own or to the cinema on my own fills me with dread. I’ve no idea why because I used to take myself for weekly coffees and people watch so I want to get over this fear and do something by myself!
2. Get my blog to the stage where I can apply for an advertising scheme
I have my eye on an advertising platform I’d like to apply for but I currently have a little way to go. I’m hoping that in a years time my blog has grown enough to make money via ads. My blog has seen some amazing growth this year and I’d like to enter my 30’s being one step closer to making an O.K. amount of money from it.
3. Get a tattoo
I already have three tattoos so this is no biggy for me but I would like at least one more tattoo before turning 30. I have a big long list of tattoo ideas that I’d like so I’m really not sure what to go for next. This is also one I’d like to tick off sooner rather than later just so it’s fully healed for when I get married next August.
4. See a sunrise
To say I’m not a morning person is an understatement. I’m a definite night owl but one day I’d love to go out on a walk and see the sunrise. I’ve seen plenty of sunsets but I’d like to make the effort to get up early one morning and see a beautiful sunrise too.
5. Travel somewhere new
Who knows what will happen with travel over the next 12 months but I’d love to go somewhere new even if it’s just somewhere I’ve never visited in the U.K. There’s lots of places I haven’t been yet that I’d love to go but I may just have to pick somewhere closer to home to tick this one off.
6. Use Duolingo (and stick to it)
I’ve downloaded Duolingo multiple times and never stuck to it so this time I want to see it through. I did GCSE German but I can only remember the very basics now so maybe starting with German might be a good option and see how I get on.
7. Read 5 classic novels
I love reading but there’s certainly some classics I’ve never tackled and probably should so I’m aiming to read 5 classic novels. I’m not sure what I’ll go for yet but I think a Charles Dickens novel will have to make it into the 5 books I choose.
8. Start and finish an online course
This one is kind of a cheat one because I’ve actually already started one but I do have a second course in mind so lets see if I can actually manage to finish two courses!
9. Exercise at least 3 times a week
I hate exercise with a passion but I know I should be looking after my body more so from publishing this I’m going to aim to exercise at least 3 times a week. I have actually found some workouts on YouTube that I really don’t mind doing I just need to get into the habit of actually doing them.
10. Complete a virtual run
I’ve had my eye on the Pow Virtual Running site for a long time now and I still haven’t signed up. I want to complete at least one virtual run. Plus the medals are amazing so if nothing else I want to get my hands on one of those!
11. Nail the perfect chocolate cake
I pride myself on my vanilla cakes because they’re just a bit good. Now it’s time to nail a chocolate cake too. I can’t believe a haven’t perfected a chocolate cake recipe yet. It’s a good excuse to bake lots of cakes though!
12. Have solid savings in place
I’ve always been good with money that’s why I like writing money saving posts so much but I’m giving myself a year to get some good solid savings in place for the future.
So there you go, that’s my little 30th birthday bucket list of sorts. I’ll do a full update around my birthday next year to see how I got on.
Do you like to set yourselves goals and challenges before a birthday? Do you have anything you’d like to complete before your next birthday? Let me know in the comments!

I turned 30 last year and set myself so many goals. I achieved most of them! Good luck with yours.

That’s amazing, I’m glad you achieved most of them. Thank you!
I love your little pre-30 bucket list – there are so many great things on it! And I can totally relate to the virtual runs. The medals always look so cute!!
Hope you manage to achieve all of these! 😊
Thank you! There’s some great medals!
Great list! I hope you complete it 🙂 Turning 30 is defnintely a milestone
Thank you!
Nailing the perfect chocolate cake is something I want to add to my things to do list now! I hope you get to achieve all of these things before you turn 30 lovely! x

Thank you. Yes a good chocolate cake recipe is an essential!
I’m 30 in 4 years and honestly that scares the crap out of me! I definitely want a tattoo but I’m a total chicken and I don’t know if I’d actually ever do it. I also really hope to have a good amount of savings by then as it is very necessary.

The thought of getting a tattoo is definitely worse than actually getting one! Yes having savings is very important.
Good luck I’m sure you can nail all of these!
Thanks!
So good to see stated goals. I kind of passed through 30 without any thoughts to anything. But the perfect chocolate cake will be added to my list of what to do before I clock 40.
It’s never too late to perfect a chocolate cake recipe!
These sound like some great ideas and goals to have! I wish you luck with them all; sunrises are beautiful – if you have any hills etc near you, I recommend taking a friend and going for an early morning hike and picnic. It sounds horrific to be up at 3am (I’m a night owl too) but it’s definitely worth the trek at least once.

Yes we have lots of places near us that would be perfect to see a sunrise from!
Love these, I’d like to do a lot of them too! I’d like to go on a solo trip, maybe a staycation or something. I’ve seen lots of people getting up for sunrise recently and I’d love to see that!
Yes I definitely need to get over not being a morning person and do it!
Really like to idea that you’ve set goals before you turn 30. Wishing you’ll be able to do all of them!
Thank you!
This is a great list to accomplish before you are thirty! Wishing you all the best completing them all!
Thank you!
That’s so weird, I wrote a blog post yesterday about things to do in your twenties and I’ve listed a fair few of these things that you want to do in it! Definitely try and do the first one. I couldn’t go ANYWHERE on my own for almost a decade but I find it so liberating now. It was so nerve-wracking at first but once you’re there and realise you’ve got no-one to please and can do exactly what you want, it’s wonderful!
You’ve been a big inspiration to make me realise I need to do more things on my own.
Love this, it’s nice to have a bucketlist! I really need to download Duolingo, I used to speak german pretty fluently but I’ve really lost it now! Also if you do perfect that chocolate cake please do share ;)xx

I definitely will!
These are such great things to do !
Solo trips seem amazing and I’m also looking forward to taking one ! 💕
Thanks. I hope you get around to making one!
I love the idea of making a list like this! I didn’t do one before I was 30, but I’ll perhaps do one in time for my 35th haha! xo

Ooo yes that would be a good idea!
Hey Lauren, this list is great! I hate the idea of going anywhere on my own, but I have tried going to the movies by myself once. I made the mistake of choosing Scorch Trials because I had nobody to turn to during the thrilling scenes lol. Definitely choose a more mellow movie if you want to head to the cinemas by yourself.
I often have ‘solo days’ when I travel with my friends just for the thrill of exploring a foreign city by myself, and still have my friends to return to in the evening. ‘Solo days’ may work out for you too if you are just as dependent on the company of friends while traveling.
All the best in accomplishing your goals! 🙂
Thank you and thanks for the advice!
