So we’re kicking off the Animal Kingdom section of this series with a trip to Africa. As I have so many photo’s to share, I figured where possible it would be easier to split them up into the different lands and share all the photo’s from the area across one or two posts rather than doing a mix each time. That way I can accompany the photo’s with a bit of writing about that area and what we got up to. Of the six areas you would find on an Animal Kingdom map, Asia and Africa are my joint favourites. I love the attractions and animals in both of those areas and they have such a lovely vibe to them.
In Africa the main attraction has to be Kilimanjaro Safari’s and while it’s fairly bumpy which makes it difficult to get photo’s it is a wonderful experience. We did a sunset safari last year which was just the most incredible experience. There were so many animals out as the day had started to cool a little and seeing them all the the backdrop of the sunset is something I’ll never forget.
I’m also a big fan of the two walking trails at Animal Kingdom which just happen to be located in Asia and Africa. Africa’s walking trail is Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. You can walk through tropical forest and experience gorillas, exotic birds, hippos and more. We tend to spend a long time in here just watching the gorillas as they’re usually causing mischief, they’re honestly so funny to watch. We also like to take our time seeing what we can spot and capturing some beautiful photos.
What I really love about Animal Kingdom is all the areas there are to explore that aren’t rides or animals. Harambe Market is such a lovey place that we definitely need to explore a bit more next time. We actually sat near Harambe in the evening and there was barely anyone about, I’ll talk about that more in my Animal Kingdom at night post though!
I hope you enjoyed my photo diary of Animal Kingdom’s Africa. I have posts coming up from all 6 Disney World parks as well as Universal Resort’s 3 parks, Disney Spring and Discovery Cove. I’m planning on sharing one photo diary a week. We vlogged our whole Florida 2018 holiday so I highly recommend checking those videos out too.
What’s your favourite part of Animal Kingdom? Let me know in the comments!
