What we’re doing differently this Florida holiday

16 August 2018 Leave a Comment

In two days time we’re heading off to Florida for two weeks of Disney World fun. This is only our second trip to Florida together but after our first trip in 2015 we knew we’d caught the Disney World bug and we hope to spend many more years making memories at the most magical place on earth. So what are we doing differently this time around? Well quite a lot is the short answer!

If you’ve watched our various videos about our upcoming trip to Florida such as our itinerary video and our bucket list video then  you’ll know we have a lot planned. But we’re also aware that it’s impossible to fit everything Disney has to offer into a two week holiday. While we’ve kept some things the same from our 2015 holiday we’ve also changed a lot too. We’ve spent 3 years waiting for this trip so we’ve had a lot of time to think and during that time we’ve also discovered the Disney YouTube community and started our own channel meaning we’ve got way more Disney knowledge this time around!
Spending more time at Disney
The main thing we’re doing differently is spending a lot more time at the Disney Parks, in 2015 we visited Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios once, Epcot twice and Magic Kingdom once during the day and once just for the fireworks. This time around we’ve got one trip to Hollywood Studios planned, two to Animal Kingdom, two full trips to Epcot and one evening trip and one full trip and two half days at Magic Kingdom. We missed so much off the Disney parks last time as we were so overwhelmed so I’m very much looking forwards to exploring new parts of the parks. We’re even going to attempt a Magic Kingdom rope drop on one of the days!
Pool time
We’re staying at the same hotel as before which has an amazing pool which we plan on making full use of, whilst we’re not in Florida to chill out, an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening will be perfect to relax us after the busyness of the parks.
Speaking of pools though, we’re also heading to Volcano Bay, Universal’s water park which wasn’t even built when we last went! I know Josh is particularly looking forwards to this.
Experiencing the parks at night
This is something we definitely didn’t do in 2015. Of course we stayed for the nighttime shows but when it actually came to seeing the parks after dark so didn’t experience that at all. It means we missed out on all the lovely things such as seeing Magic Kingdom lit up, seeing Spaceship Earth in it’s evening colours and of course Animal Kingdom wasn’t even open on an evening when we went so I’m really looking forwards to experiencing the Tree of Life Awakening and Rivers of Light as well as maybe trying to squeeze in a sunset safari!
Pin Trading
I only started collecting pins last year and it’s something I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. I can’t wait to pin trade at the parks and see what lovely pins I can add to my ever growing collection.

Discovery Cove
In 2015 we visited Sea World and it’s water park, Aquatica. This year we’ve scrapped those in favour of visiting Discovery Cove and taking part in a dolphin swim. It looks out of this world and I can’t wait to swim with dolphins, which is something I’ve always wanted to do.

Special Events
Perhaps the things I’m most excited for! We had everything crossed that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party would start earlier again this year, and it has. Yes it means we’re doing Halloween in August but I’m honestly so excited. Autumn and Halloween are the best and from what I’ve seen, Disney does Halloween extremely well!
We’re also lucky enough to be there for the start of Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival meaning we’ve managed to squeeze one day in there, I can’t wait to try some of the lovely dishes on offer.
