Happy List: June 2019

1 July 2019 Leave a Comment

Well June turned out to be a very good month with lots happening. I have quite a lot to update you all on and a lot of wedding news. The only thing that would have improved this month is if it wasn’t such a wash out, so much rain!

1. So I suppose the biggest news is that I said yes to my wedding dress! I was totally not expecting that to happen 14 months before the wedding and with very low body confidence before dress shopping but I found an absolutely beautiful dress that is quite possibly the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen. I feel like an absolute Disney princess in it and I knew it was the one straight away so I couldn’t leave it in the shop.
2. On the same day as I bought my dress I also made another unexpected purchase, my bouquet. A friend has very kindly offered to arrange my bouquet for me as she used to be a florist. You can see the beginning of it in the second photo above. There’s a bit more to do on it but I love how it looks already so I definitely can’t wait to see the final thing. I’ve gone with artificial flowers so I’ll have a keepsake after the wedding too.
3. I also made another big wedding related decision (which is also the reason why you’re only just hearing about my dress) and I’ve created a wedding blog! I’ve been blogging on here for 8 years now and whilst I’ve always loved talking about a wide range of topics it was becoming too jumbled and adding wedding chat to everything else just became too much. Starting a new blog from scratch is a scary process but I’m loving having a platform solely dedicated to all things wedding related. It’d mean a lot if you could check out (and follow along) my wedding blog.
4. With the realisation that there were too many topics going on with this blog, I’ve decided to try and niche down just a little. There’s a big focus on home/interiors and finances/money saving on this blog now all of which I love talking about. This blog has always been very personal mainly because it’s always been a hobby but over the last 6-8 months focus has shifted a little and my blog now earns a tiny bit of money each month. I’m not ashamed to admit that this is something I would like to build on. I’ll still be here doing the monthly Happy Lists because they’re like my baby now and they’ve been with me from the start and they’re a great way to still keep that personal touch but the main focus will now be less about me and more about how I can help you on a variety of subjects.
5. I made a wonderful order from Emily Makes Boutique this month. You know how much I love that company and as a little present to myself for working hard across two blogs and my actual job I made an order. I’m not going to say too much else as I have a full post coming on my haul!
6. Josh has also been hard at work this month building up his freelance writing and drawing businesses. That mans talent never ceases to amaze me and I’m so proud of everything he creates and how things are starting to take off for him. He’s decided to put some of his designs on Spreadshirt and I’m absoutely in love with the Haunted Mansion themed one! There are quite a few designs on there already all available in lots of different products to it’d be great if you could check them out. They’re all digitally drawn by Josh and I’m not just saying this because I’m obliged to but they’re honestly great. He’s also started offering logo and header designs all custom made to your specifications too, he designed all the logo’s and header for my new wedding blog (you can see an example on the bottom picture in the middle) and got my vision spot on!
7. Our wonderful friends David and Ian sent over some Magic Mail this month too and we were so grateful to receive some amazing Disney World goodies with lots of Haunted Mansion things included.
8. I’ve been very reflective this month, this time last year was awful, June 2018 was the worst month ever and I’ve been thinking about how this time last year we really were at a low point with no idea just how much worse things were going to get throughout the rest of the year. It’s amazing what a difference a year makes and how different life is now. It really showed me that together Josh and I can get through anything. If someone sat me down last year and said in a years time you’ll be engaged, planning your wedding and dream honeymoon, Josh will be working for himself and you’ll be running two successful blogs I’d have probably sworn at them and carried on crying. I’m not trying to make out life is perfect because it’s not but we’re one step closer to where we want to be and about a million steps away from where we were last year.
Phew, that was a big old update! There are so many exciting changes and big things happening though that I just had to get it all down. July is set to be another great month too so I can’t wait to update you all in the next Happy List.
