What was with the weather in May? Here I was hoping for some wonderful sunshine and plenty of time in the garden and what I got was rain, rain and more rain. I still had my heating on for most of the month! Not impressed. Luckily things picked up over the Bank Holiday weekend and I got some much needed time in the garden! Anyway, aside from the awful weather May brought some much needed normality back into my life. I’m over that life of going to work and coming home on repeat after 15 months of the same.

May brought so many wonderful moments. From little things like finally getting to go out shopping and having a pub lunch indoors to bigger things like spending time with my niece and nephew. Here’s how the month went:
1. After 15 months of living in each other’s pockets I got a night by myself when my fiancé went away. Oh. My. God. It was bliss. I love him with all my heart and I love doing things with him but 15 months of sat in the house together is enough. In a way I’m glad I still went to work as normal throughout all of this because I think that would have been a real test! Anyway I bought treats, had my hair cut, had a super long bath, ordered a takeaway and enjoyed some time alone. It was amazing!
2. Speaking of hair cuts, I had a big trim this month. My hair reached the bottom of my back and I’d really had enough of it. So I’ve had around 8 inches cut off and I bloody love it. It feels so much healthier and I do way more with it now than I did when it was super long. I’m going blonder in July too so I can’t wait for that!
3. May also saw our niece turn 4 which I can’t quite believe. It was so nice to spend some time with her though and have a little birthday party. She also superbly conned Josh into buying her a Dobby soft toy despite not having a clue who Dobby is or about Harry Potter!
4. May was a time for treating myself too. Not something I do often. I’m not going to lie 2021 hasn’t been a great year so I’ve spent some extra time taking care of myself. Lots of long, hot baths and just taking time away from blogging. It also involved some seriously delicious sweet treats because that’s self care too right?!
5. I also decided to treat myself to some new dresses and shoes. I hardly ever buy new clothes but I hopefully have a lot of fun things coming up over the next few months including my hen party, 30th birthday and mini-moon so I figured why not?! My confidence has taken a real battering over the last year and I just don’t feel like me anymore so I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone with some seriously gorge dresses and sparkly heels and I’m ready to feel good!
May turned out to be a really lovely month and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how June turns out. I have half of the month off work which is already a great start!
How was May for you? Let me know in the comments!

Love these types of post! Glad you had such a lovely night alone when your partner went away. I’m in a similar situation and my boyfriend has just gone back to work so having some extra alone time has been really beneficial x
They’re definitely my favourite to write. I think it’s so important to have some alone time in a relationship and just have your own space!
