Here we are, stuck at home again. You’d think most people are used to life in lockdown by now. But every time feels like a new challenge. Yet, we have the tools at home to support our sanity and mental clarity.

Self-isolation behind a locked door irremediably affects your social circles. Even if you can reach out to friends and relatives by phone, these digital interactions don’t replace all the benefits we get from face-to-face interactions. Therefore, we need to create a self-care routine that empowers us to look after ourselves. As silly as it might sound, keeping motivated, engaged, and positive is no easy task when your day-to-day life happens in between the same 4 walls. What habits have you developed or relied on during lockdown?
- Meditation
- Yoga
- Positive journaling
- Positive affirmations
- Structured workouts
While all these suggestions are great and can deliver plenty of positivity, they miss one crucial fact. In lockdown, your home becomes the centre of your life. Rather than focusing on solutions that promote escapism, how about we consider how the rooms inside our homes can help us through?
Wake up refreshed and rested
There’s such a thing as lockdown tiredness. It’s got to do with stress, emotional fatigue, and the change of routine. You turn in bed unable to sleep, and if you sleep, you still end up waking up feeling tired. Enhancing your bedroom décor can make a big difference in how you approach your bedtime routine. A pretty interior plays a big role in your mood. Adding bright accessories can refresh the bedroom décor and transform your mental attitude to going to bed. It stops being a thoughtless process and becomes a mindful decision. As you reconnect with your bedtime routine, you also find new ways of tidying up your mind before going to sleep.
Be productive and focused
Most of us have been working from home intermittently since March 2020. Gradually, we’ve established the layout of a home office, moving from the bed to the kitchen table, and so on. So, if you feel there are still improvements to be made, you may want to consider how creating a home office can empower your creative focus. The right workplace space doesn’t need to break the bank, but it should tick all the right boxes for you. There are plenty of smart solutions, such as repurposing the staircase space or making your furniture work harder. But the bottom line is that once you’ve got an office that suits you, you can make work at home more enjoyable and meaningful.
Have healthy and empowering meals
What’s your lockdown diet like? Have the healthy resolutions of the New Year dissolved into packs of biscuits and fish n” chips takeaways? We naturally seek comfort in food, without always realising that it can come at a hefty cost. Firstly, there’s no long-term bonus, and secondly, the negative side effects can be unpleasant. But creating a strict diet isn’t the answer. Instead, you can turn the kitchen into a hub of health, using the décor to inspire positive habits. A clean, clutter-free kitchen with a fresh fruit display can encourage you to make better choices.
Everybody has the same needs: Sleep, be productive, and eat. The lockdown limits our scenery, but it doesn’t remove those essential needs. So helping your home to help you can keep the lockdown blues at bay.

Great post! Having to spend so much time in our homes because of the lockdowns, it is important that our homes are places of comfort and inspiration. I agree with you that our bedrooms decor can really affect our sleep routine. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Yes definitely, a calm and clutter free bedroom is definitely better for sleep and relaxation.
Yes to all of these! I really feel like my mom and the new routines I started doing for me and my family definitely helped us get through! Thanks for sharing.
