Does blogging alter throughout the seasons? Is blogging different in spring/summer to autumn/winter? Now we’ve entered a new season I thought it would be interesting to take a look at how blogging changes through out the year.

For this post I’ve enlisted the help of some wonderful bloggers to provide their thoughts on the topic too.
Alexandra from Saturday Life Girl – “I find blogging in autumn/winter very motivating compared to spring/summer. But I think that’s due to the fact that in autumn/winter it’s cold, it’s dark early and the only place I feel like being is wrapped up in front of the TV. So being sat there with not a lot to do really motivates me to focus on writing blog posts and doing other blogging related tasks. Whereas in spring and summer months the nights are lighter, it’s warmer and the last thing I feel like doing is being sat indoors in front of a screen.”
Izzy from Izzy Matias – “We only have two seasons where I’m from ; rainy and dry. I’m definitely more motivated during the rainy season as it’s harder to focus when it’s scorching and when my laptop heats up.”
Kay from The Craft Room and Beyond – “I think summer has the least seasonal activity. You get quite a run from October, a gap from July-September and repeat. Summer content is usually pretty variable, 2020 is a hard one to use as an example though given how the year’s been!”
Ellie from Ellie’s Little World – “I am definitely more motivated to blog over autumn/winter. I just feel like I have so many more ideas as they’re themed and in the summer I struggle to come up with ideas.”
Stephanie from She Saw Style – “Autumn and winter are when I’m the most motivated to write. I feel inspired in autumn since it cools down and I can take more photos outside or I can decorate for the holidays. And winter has the holidays themselves to write on! So much more fun – and more campaigns are available.”
Claire from Our Favourite Jar – “I find summer content more difficult to create and it’s also generally quieter as well because of people holidays and having children at home. Some great content goes almost unnoticed as people are not around as often to read it. But I love using the summer to plan all of my autumn/winter content. It just feels like there are so many available topics to cover that I never struggle for ideas like I do at other times. My busiest months are October to December in terms of views as well. It goes hand in hand with my favourite time of year so maybe that’s why I find it easier to focus on and create content.”
Jupiter from Jupiter Hadley – “Part of why I change through seasons is the season specific challenges like blogtober and blogmas, where if you participate you can end up joining into groups who are also taking part and motivating each other.”
Emily from Love, Em – “As much as I love the summer, it’s just too hot to write. When everyone is on holiday, it’s demotivating because your blog stats drop despite putting in the same amount of effort as the winter. I love autumn/winter for writing. You can snuggle up with a coffee and write for hours. I am more productive when it’s colder. More people are staying in and reading your posts which gives you that extra boost to keep going!”
My thoughts
Personally I think blogging does change through out the year for me. I much prefer creating autumn and Christmas content which is why you’ll find a lot of that on this blog but not so much spring/summer content. I’m far more motivated to create content in the autumn too but that probably links to the fact that I’m writing content I really love too. I just have so many ideas for autumn and Christmas content.
I’m just super passionate about autumn and Christmas content, honestly if I could write it all year round I would! How great would that be?! There’s just something really nice about snuggling down with a blanket and some sweet autumn candles lit and producing content I love.
I’m definitely not a summer content girl but when the weather is nice I do love sitting outside and reading all day rather than working on my blog. Living in the U.K. is perfect for cosy blogging days in the colder months.
So I think we’ve established that blogging is just all round better in the colder months!
How does blogging change for you through out the seasons? Do you prefer to create spring/summer content or autumn/winter content? Tell me in the comments!

This one was an interesting read. It’s cool to see that many bloggers feel more motivated to right at the same time I do. Seasons definitely affect every aspect of my life so I’m glad I’m not alone.
Yes I found it interesting that everyone seemed in agreement that autumn and winter are much better for blogging!
Interesting. I live in more of a one season zone, Just rainy, cold and sunny weather. SoI can’t blame the weather for not writing, Ha! However I find holiday seasons quite challenging because of visitors and festivities,
That’s true, it’s a very busy time of the year and it can be hard to fit everything in!
Great post Lauren, thank you for including me. I do think the Autumn and Winter were made for blogging, or maybe just made for my style of blogging x x
You’re welcome! Yes mine too!
I imagine the seasons are a lovely influence for writing poetry!
I’ve only blogged during summer so it’s interesting to see what people think of blogging during autumn and winter. Thanks for sharing!
It would be interesting to see what you think to blogging in autumn and winter once you’ve experienced it!
What a lovely post! Seasonal content can be so lovely to write and it’s always nice to be able to change things up throughout the year! X
Thanks! It really is.
I 100% agree with blogging changes with the seasons. I definitely write more in autumn/winter as I find they are easier to have themed posts around!!
Yes I agree, it’s much easier for me too!
I find blogging changes more around autumn/winter time
I think there’s definitely more seasonal content around in the autumn and winter.
I totally agree too, it sure changes depending on each season. I prefer autumn and winter as I write more. as I stay in more
Yes definitely. It just feels like there’s a bit more time to create content!
Thanks for sharing, I find that I’m oppsite of everyone, I find the autumn/winter content harder to write as I’m not a fan of them either. Plus when I have written content in the past I get very few views on them so what is the point for me sometimes to write content that is not seen 🙂

I get that. I think I’m much more passionate about autumn and winter content so even though I obviously want them to be read I also enjoy creating the content for myself too.
Love this post darling, thanks for sharing. I agree with you that blogging does change through the seasons for me. I’m sending you so much love. ♡

Thank you!
Cosy content is the absolute best!
I personally prefer the seasonal aspects to blogging in autumn and winter (except the lack of light for photos)! This was a really fun read and I love the thoughts from other bloggers x
Thank you! The lack of light is the downside to blogging in autumn and winter.
Hi Lauren. Another great post. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
