Your blog should have its own brand. Even if you haven’t taken the time to fully develop one, your blog likely has an identity that you have created, maybe without even meaning to. However, if you want your blog to be successful, it’s worth taking the time to take your blog’s brand further. Keeping your blog on-brand helps people to understand what they should expect from you. They can see what your message is and what topics you will post about, as well as what you might promote. So what can you do to ensure your blog stays on-brand at all times?

Ensure Your Brand Is Well-Defined
If you want your blog to stay on-brand, you first need to know what your brand is. You have to define your brand so that you’re able to think about whether your choices work for your brand or not. There are various things to think about when defining your brand, such as the message, mission and values of your brand. It’s also a good idea to create some reference documents that you can use to make your brand clear. These can outline things like what your brand stands for and the tone of voice that you use in your posts and marketing.
Check Posts Align with Your Brand
Whenever you create a post for your blog, you need to check it aligns with your brand. This starts with the topic that you choose to write about. Does it work for your brand, and is it something that your audience is expecting? You also need to check that the writing in the post itself works for your brand, and so do any images, external links, and other content. You can automate this using something like templafy.com, which can automatically check your documents for on-brand consistency. Everything that you post should work for your brand, even if it’s something you like that doesn’t quite fit.
Choose the Right Partners and Promotions
If you use your blog to promote products and services, it can be a good way to make some money. However, before you do this, you need to be sure that anything you promote fits in with your brand. It’s important to do this so that you’re not promoting anything that your audience wouldn’t want to see. If you start promoting random things that they’re not interested in, they could start to turn away from your blog.
Create Different Types of On-Brand Content
When you’re thinking about content for your blog, consider creating various types of content. But whatever you decide to create, make sure that it’s all on-brand for your blog. Whether you want to add some infographics, use a video editor to create compelling videos, or just write different types of posts, everything needs to align with your blog’s identity and the brand you have established. You need to define how your brand should come through in each type of content.
Keep your blog on-brand, and it will help your audience to understand what they can expect from you. How do you keep your blog on brand? Let me know in the comments.
