It would seem that I’m continuing the tradition of being late publishing these Happy Lists in 2025. You know I can’t miss one though, so even though this feels really wrong talking about December and Christmas, I’m going ahead anyway! Let’s take a look back at December!

1. The whole of December is just a vibe for me. I absolutely love it, hands down my favourite month. We actually went from having hardly any plans for December to being busy every weekend and even though I’m definitely a stay-at-home and be cosy kinda girl, I wasn’t complaining because all of the plans were so great! December as a whole deserves the number one spot on this list just for being the best month because who doesn’t love feeling cosy and festive every day of the week?!
2. The biggest thing in December was our weekend in Manchester for two Paul McCartney concerts. Me and my husband are huge Paul McCartney fans and we even got engaged at the last McCartney concert we went to all the way back in December 2018! We’ve been waiting for so long for him to come back to the UK so it was super exciting to be going to both Manchester concerts. We did go all out because, not to be morbid, this could well be the last time we see him live. My husband has been a McCartney fan way before me so we splashed out and did the soundcheck package on one of the nights. We were also super fortunate to be very close to the stage on both nights and we got a huge surprise when he played Wonderful Christmastime which has always been my favourite Christmas song, well before I even knew who Paul McCartney was! We vlogged the whole weekend but here’s the video from night two at the soundcheck package.
3. All three fur babies got into the festive spirit in December. It has somehow turned into a bit of a festive tradition to get a Christmas photo of each of them every year now. This is only Thomas’s second Christmas with us so he’s not 100% sure about the photoshoot but he participates anyway!
4. Other festive plans in December included a father-and-daughter day out for me and my Dad. We’ve done this every year since I moved out and this year we went to Harewood House. Their Christmas offering, Mischief at the Mansion was absolutely fantastic and we had such a great day out. I also went to Chatsworth Christmas market with my mum and her partner then we had a family afternoon at the races. Very busy but very fun.
5. Christmas was absolutely lush. It was a very quiet day which was very much needed as both me and my husband had been snowed under with work and social plans. Last Christmas I’d only been self-employed for a few months and I didn’t get to enjoy the Christmas period quite as much as I would have liked so this year I was very surprised to actually get some time off. It was so needed though. I loved being able to properly enjoy Christmas without worrying about work and where past me would have stressed about the idea of no work = no money when you’re self-employed, I’m finally learning to go with the flow a little bit more.
6. One of the best things about Christmas aside from all the much-needed relaxation was the fact that my husband bought me some bookshelves for Christmas and I got some lovely books to put on them too. If you’ve read my previous Happy Lists then you’ll know that I fully immersed myself in book social media at the end of last year with a BookTok account, a BookTube and a book blog! I haven’t had a proper collection of physical books for a while due to limited space so these little bookshelves are making me very happy!
And that just about wraps up December’s Happy List. January is definitely not my favourite month but I’m embracing the slow period, trying not to freeze over with all this horrible weather and just seeing where the month goes. No big plans, no resolutions as such, just a calm month of reading, colouring and vision boarding for 2025! I hope you all have a lovely January.
What did you get up to in December? Any plans for January? Let me know in the comments!
