It only feels like two minutes ago since I was writing the last Happy List, but here we are with another month gone by. Summer just is not happening this year is it which is very disappointing. I’m definitely an autumn girl but a little bit of warmth and sunshine would have been nice rather than grey cloud and rain all the time! Despite the lack of summer, July was still a great month so let’s take a look at what happened, shall we?!

1. July of course means the start of the summer holidays for me, the absolute biggest perk of working a school! There’s nothing quite like that feeling you get on the last day of the school year. I will be spending a lot of time working on my blogs whilst I’m off so it won’t be all rest. I love getting this time to dedicate to my blogs but it makes me realise how many benefits would come with working from home and for myself. I have so much more time to work on the things I love and my mental and physical health definitely improves. It would be the absolute dream but it’s just not feasible right now unfortunately.
2. The other big thing in July was my birthday! I turned 32 this year and I wrote a blog post all about my thoughts on that so go and give it a read. My actual birthday was fairly chilled out as my husband was working all day then he had a work event in the evening that I tagged along to. We went out the next day for lots of food and cocktails though which was really nice.
3. I got a bright pink PS5 controller as one of my birthday presents so I spent a lot of my birthday playing Hogwarts Legacy with my new controller and feeling like I’d hit peak gamer girl status. As a side note, I am absolutely loving Hogwarts Legacy, it’s such a fantastic game!
4. We had a lot of stuff going on towards the end of the month with me finishing work, birthday celebrations, a Christening and work events. We were very busy. As someone who is very happy and comfortable in loungewear, no makeup and my hair piled up on top of my head it was nice to get dressed up and do my makeup for quite a few things. It was always good to get in my pj’s at the end of the day though!
5. I’ve been trying some new workouts in July and I have to say I’ve been loving them. I discovered Grow With Jo when I saw someone mentioning her workouts on TikTok and I decided to give them I go. You work up such a sweat but they’re really fun to do and leave me feeling really good. I’ve been a bit adrift with working out for a few months now so it feels really good to find something I enjoy again and actually get my confidence back and move my body.
6. I try to only colour my hair twice a year as it gets bleached. Luckily with having balayage I can get away with this. I went much blonder at my recent appointment and I absolutely love it. I’ve also been enjoying having my hair a little on the shorter side for me. I still can’t believe that 15 months ago I had hair that reached the bottom of my back! It’s shorter hair all the way for me now.
7. I took myself out for a little mooch around the shops and couldn’t believe how much autumn stuff was in TK Maxx and The Range already. It made my autumn loving heart so happy! The Range have gone all out this year, I don’t ever recall them having such a large autumn collection but it looks amazing.
8. As much as I love spending time alone, it’s usually in the comfort of my own home. As silly as it sound there’s certain activities that make me feel a little anxious to do alone and it’s something I’m working on. With that in mind, when I took myself out on my little shopping trip I decided to treat myself to some lunch too. Eating out alone is something I hate but I was having a really lovely time by myself and decided to push myself. And do you know what, I really enjoyed it! I only went to Costa but I got myself a window seat and did some people watching and I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. I’m definitely going to make an effort to do it again while I’m off work for the summer.
I’m hoping the sun decides to make a reappearance in August, it would be nice to spend some time outside reading while I’m off. August is all about putting lots of work into my blogs, planning out autumn content (my absolute favourite!), lots of self care and doing things that make me happy and of course there’s my second wedding anniversary coming up.
I hope you all had a lovely July. Let me know what you got up to in the comments.
