Self-care is so important all year round, but it isn’t always easy to put yourself first. If you’ve been prioritising work, family life or household chores, now is the time to re-work your schedule to include time for self-care. By doing so, you can enhance your well-being and optimise your health. For inspiration, take a look at these top autumn self-care ideas now:

Get outside
When the warm, Summer evenings disappear and cooler temperatures arrive, it’s tempting to spend more time indoors. However, getting outside and spending time in nature can be a fantastic form of self-care. What’s more – the crisp autumn days are perfect for long walks or bike rides. Whether you take a quick walk during your lunch break or head out for a day of hiking at the weekend, be sure to schedule regular ‘outdoor time’ if you want to feel your best.
Nourish your skin
As the seasons change, you should overhaul your skincare routine to accommodate the changing environment. You may even want to treat yourself to a cosmetic peel, neck lift or microdermabrasion. When the weather changes and your heating goes on, your skin can get drier, which means you need to spend a little more time taking care of it. With regular exfoliation and hydration, you can ensure your skin is glowing, no matter what time of year it is. You will also want to make sure you nourish your skin from within by eating antioxidant and vitamin-packed foods and staying hydrated. Getting an IV drip makes it easy to enjoy the best of vitamins and hydration that can help support radiant, glowing skin.
Have a movie night
Sometimes, there’s nothing better than snuggling down on the sofa and treating yourself to a back-to-back viewing of your favourite films. With popcorn and snacks, you can make a real night of it and relax without letting any worries intrude on your time. Whether you’re a fan of comedies, a horror movie buff or you’re looking for the best family films, there are endless options to choose from.
Learn to meditate
If you haven’t tried meditation before, it’s certainly something you’ll want to take a look at. Spending a few minutes each day to calm your mind can transform how you feel and lower your stress levels. With easy-to-follow online tutorials and free guided meditation audio files, everyone can learn how to meditate. Once you’ve incorporated meditation into your life, you’ll see just how easy it is to use meditation as a tool throughout the day.

Be more active
When you’re short of time or feeling low, it can be hard to motivate yourself to exercise. However, being active causes your body to release endorphins. Known as ‘feel-good hormones’, these endorphins boost your mood and make you feel happier and more optimistic. If you don’t fancy hitting the gym, there are plenty of ways to incorporate more activity in your day-to-day routine. From a short morning walk to playing football in the garden with your kids, any form of activity can be a great way to practice self-care.
Set new boundaries
If you’re struggling to manage your time or you regularly feel overwhelmed, it’s time to reassess your boundaries. No matter how much you want to help other people, taking on too much will inevitably have a negative impact on your well-being. Learning to say ‘no’, and feeling comfortable doing so, is an essential lesson we all need to overcome. Establishing new boundaries may feel tricky at first but you’ll soon notice the positive effect it has on your outlook and your life as a whole.
Declutter your home
Having a clear out or simply tidying your living spaces can have a tremendous practical impact on your day-to-day life. However, the benefits don’t stop there. Decluttering your home can also be an effective way to minimise stress and boost your mental health. Whether you’ve been holding on to things for too long or housework has simply got on top of you, now is the time to take back control.
Make self care a priority
If you’re used to putting other people first or you aren’t sure how to incorporate self care into your life, it may feel a little strange to prioritise your own needs at first. However, making self-care a priority can revolutionise your life and make you feel happier, more energetic and less stressed.
By asking for help when you need it, setting firm boundaries and putting yourself first, you can identify the areas of your life that you’d like to change. Similarly, you can begin to understand the things and people that are most important to you. By doing so, you’ll enjoy a whole new outlook on life and be able to enjoy each and every day.

Thanks for reading, I’m glad you found it helpful.
My autumn self care has consisted of spending quality time with my family. In the past, I had no energy left when I got home from work. Now that I am no longer teaching, but working part time, I have been devoting more time to making fun memories with my kids. It is healing for me.
Ah that’s really great. I know what you mean though, I work in a school too though I’m not a teacher and I often find my energy has just been completely zapped.
Thanks for reading!
Hey Lauren long time fan of your blog. This is a really great post full of simple, easy to follow tips and advice. We’re all so busy these days, working hard, looking after our loved ones; we must actively remember to take time out and practice self-care. As a mum and business woman, I do quite a few of these such as meditating, exercising and a good dose of self-care. I always have a candle lit somewhere and essential oils burning for getting me to sleep and giving me some extra pep when needed. My passion led to my business. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.
