This is a collaborative post Viessman
There’s no doubt about it, us humans need to start living greener, more sustainable lives. A lot of people are already doing their best and making positive changes but more needs to be done. In this post I’m going to take a look at some of the technology that will help shape the future and have a positive impact on climate change.

Viessman currently have a great campaign – Humans of the future: how tech will allow us to coexist with nature harmoniously which explores some of the ways that technology will help us survive in the future. While there’s no denying that technology will help the humans of the future live more sustainable lives we do need to be acting now to make sure there is a liveable future for our children, grandchildren and beyond. We all know the current heatwaves in the U.K. are thanks to global warming and while we may think a few hotter days and the U.K. no longer been classed as a cold country is great, it’s actually having a detrimental effect on the planet. While advances in technology are great and will help people in the future, we still need to concentrate on the basics now such as recycling, ending fast fashion and making our homes more energy efficient.
Let’s take a look at some of the suggestions from Viessman.
Wearable Tech
Quite a lot of us already own a smartwatch but in the future there could be a whole load more tech for us to wear. Many companies have already developed smart glasses so expect these to be a lot more sophisticated in the future. This gadget could quite easily provide room temperature readings or detect air pollution levels in the future without you even having to do anything.
Our smartwatches and other wearable tech can currently monitor some health indicators such as our heart rate and glucose levels but researchers are already working in skin patches that will be able to wirelessly monitor your health. These will enabling us to not only keep a check on specific health problems but to keep a closer eye on our more general wellbeing which will refocus healthcare efforts on preventative interventions.
Finally when it comes to wearable tech, the humans of the future could see themselves getting around on so called Segway shoes. Shoes with wheels aren’t by any means new but Segway has already released a pair of self-balancing roller shoes and there’s no doubt that this kind of footwear technology could become more commonplace. With the raising cost of fuel and commuting Segway shoes could be the answer for urban transport.
Rethinking Fabric
From the clothes we wear daily to the textiles in our house. The fabrics we are surrounded by daily could change drastically to adapt to the needs to future humans.
We’re already looking for ways to make our homes more energy efficient and one answer to that could be temperature regulating fabrics. These remove the need to heat or air condition the whole room. This sort of technology is already available for duvets so it’s more than possible that as it advances clothes may also start to feature something similar as well.
When it comes to clothes we all know fast fashion is bad for the environment which is why researchers are currently working on creating fabrics with electronic displays, smart sensors and energy-harvesting features. This would mean the humans of the future may have less clothes in their wardrobe but a much greater range of possibilities when it comes to outfits. Scientists are already looking at adapting the technology to include the textiles in our homes too meaning things like carpets and curtains could have similar tech.
There are lots of ways the technology will help the humans of the future to live harmoniously with nature, I’ve just touched upon a few of the ideas today. I think it’s really interesting to see the positive changes that are happening all around us and to think about how life will be different in the future.

I definitely see technology being an excellent tool in helping climate change. As technology is progressing ALL the time, it won’t be long before more gadgets, apps, platforms arise that can do their part. I just worry that all the technology itself might cause more harm than good if we go too far but I guess we just have to trust the companies that they know what they’re doing in that regard and continue doing our part x
There’s definitely a fine balance that needs to be struck with it all.
I’m hopeful that techn continues to become as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible while also allowing us to do out bit too. Thanks for introducing all this and raising awareness!
Thank you for reading.
This is an interesting point! I don’t tend to consider technology so much, and more focus on affordable things to do now. But, if the tech is affordable it might be the way forward x
I think that’s going to be one of the big things, making it affordable to accessible for more people.
I hadn’t ever thought of wearable technology (aside from watches) before but this sounds incredible! What a fantastic idea on helping the environment – I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Thank you for sharing this with us lovely, it is such a interesting post! Xo

Thank you! There’s definitely going to be some interesting and exciting things happening in the future!
i think one of the ways tech can better help us with climate change is simply be more aware of the problems. without technology, we wouldn’t be aware of such problems. i’ve learned from others of more wholesome brands and techniques on being more sustainable for the environment.
That’s definitely true.
I didn’t really understand how technology would help tackle climate change. But it is so interesting to read about the fabrics for example. I am looking forward to seeing the advances in technology and how we can use it to positively impact the environment.

If the predications are correct then there’ll certainly be some interesting tech around in the future!
