I’ll be honest, spooky books are my favourite to read at any time of the year. It always feels better reading them when it’s cold and dark outside though because it just adds to the atmosphere. For that reason I do like to pack in as many spooky books as I can around Halloween.
I’ve tried to include a good mixture of books that could fall under the umbrella of ‘spooky’ as I know not everyone will want to be terrified so there’s some atmospheric historical novels in there as well as some young adult novels and some crime novels too.

Have read and loved some of these recommendations and have a few more waiting to be read like Dark Matter which I picked up a few days ago! Can’t wait to get into that one.
My spooky recs would be The Midnight Palace by Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. 🙂

It is indeed a sequel and it’s sooo good! I definitely need to read the Mr Mercedes books.
Thanks! That’s a really good classic choice.
My favorite spooky books are books that border strange events in our world and make us wonder what if it is real? For that reason, I love Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Both sad and haunting.
It was a very good book!
