5 landscaping tips for small gardens

You really don’t need a huge space in order to create a gorgeous garden. Small gardens have great potential, plus they are wonderfully low maintenance!
Whether you are looking to add some colour, create storage or make your small outdoor space feel more open, here are five simple ideas to help inspire you…
1. If your garden is too small to have flower beds, you can still add colour using a number of potted plants. You can buy garden pots in many shapes and sizes and they are perfect for small gardens because they can be moved around when you fancy a change.
2. Make the most of your fence by adding trellises and climbing plants. Trellises are the perfect space saving solution, because they encourage plants to grow up high and off of the ground. Clematis is a great plant choice for a small trellis and can also be grown in garden pots.
3. Updating your fence can also help to make a small space appear more open and add style. Try an open pale design, where the gaps between the slats will help to create the illusion of extra space.
4. Another great idea for a small garden is to add a large sculpture or water feature. This may seem like an odd choice for a small garden, but it is a great way to create a theme and add an effective focal point.
5. If you need storage but your garden is too small for a shed, there are smaller storage alternatives. Garden chests are a great option and still hold a surprising amount of equipment.
So as you can see, by carefully planning your landscaping and making a few simple changes, you can bring out the best in your small garden.
