Cheap and easy ways to make your bedroom more luxurious

Your bedroom is the most important room in the house. If you don’t have it set up right, you won’t be able to relax properly and get a good night’s sleep. It’s your own little space where you can get away from it all so you need to put some time and effort into decorating it properly. If you’re not happy with your bedroom and you think it looks a little bit boring, try some of these simple tricks to make it more luxurious.

Get Thicker Curtains
A nice pair of thick curtains can really make all of the difference in the bedroom. It keeps the light out so you’re not getting woken up too early in the mornings and it’s a great way to keep the heat in the house during the winter. They’ll also look a lot more luxurious than a simple set of blinds or some cheap, thin curtains.
Splash Out On Bed Linen
Getting the right bed is so important. If you don’t have a comfortable mattress that offers good support, you won’t be able to sleep properly. But even if you spend a lot of time and money on finding the perfect bed and mattress, you could easily ruin it if you stick some cheap bed linens on there. They won’t be comfortable if they’re made of cheap materials so if you want your bedroom to be luxurious, you need to splash out on some more expensive cotton ones. Hotel quality bed runners are a great finishing touch that turns a boring bed into an expensive looking one with ease. You could also consider getting some nice throw pillows on there as well for added comfort should you need it.
Tidy Up The Nightstand
Most people have a nightstand that’s covered with all sorts of bits and bobs. Watches, phones, hand creams and whatever else you might have nearby when you’re going to bed end up making it look very cluttered. If you want your bedroom to have that luxurious feel like a hotel room, you should rethink how you organize the nightstand. Anything that you don’t need within reach when you sleep can go away in a drawer until morning. You shouldn’t really need anything if you’re sleeping, having your phone out only distracts you from sleeping anyway so put it away for the night. If the room is free from clutter, you’ll find it a lot easier to relax in there and get a proper night’s sleep.
Pick Things Up Off The Floor
It doesn’t matter how well you’ve decorated the room, it’s never going to look luxurious if there are clothes and things strewn all over the floor. Usually, it just comes down to laziness and it’ll make such a huge difference if you just take a bit of time to pick up after yourself. If you don’t have one already, get a laundry basket in there and you’ll find it so much easier to keep the floor tidy.
A Hanging Light Fixture
A boring lampshade isn’t that exciting so why not change it out for something a bit fancier. Hanging light fixtures are great for this. You could go for something traditional and extravagant like a chandelier or if you’re going for a more modern look, a minimalist brushed steel one works well. A hanging light fixture is far more luxurious than a plain lamp shade. It’s also a great solution for rooms with tall ceilings. They can feel quite empty but a low hanging light fixture will draw attention downwards and make the ceilings look a lot lower.
Add Some Plants
Putting some plants in the room is the easiest way to turn it from average to amazing without spending loads of money. You could put a large fern in the corner of the room or put a few small potted plants on the nightstands or the windowsill. If you’re not very good at looking after plants and remembering to water them, succulents are a good option. They only need watering once every couple of weeks and if you forget a few times, they won’t die. The other major benefit of having plants in the room is that they’re good for your health. They’ll clean the air which is important, especially if you’re living in a big city.
People think that creating a luxurious bedroom means having to spend loads of money on furniture but there’s no need. If you just use these simple tricks instead, you can get the luxurious bedroom that you want without spending loads of money.
