The Jingle All The Way Christmas Tag

We're in to single figures now for the countdown to Christmas, how exciting is that?! When I saw this super fun tag on Thrice Upon A Dream I knew I had to do it. What better way to get into the festive spirit than write about everything Christmassy!

It's not often that I write light-hearted posts like this but the festive season just calls for fun and easy posts doesn't it?! So here so we go, read on if you want to know all about my decorations, presents, traditions and more!

Where will you be celebrating Christmas this year?
At home as we always do. I really wouldn't want to go out for Christmas Day and I love our chilled out Christmas at home.

Who are you celebrating with?
It's just Josh and I (and our two cats, obviously!). We love our chilled out Christmas and we've always done it like this since we moved in together. This is our 4th Christmas living together now and I wouldn't swap our chilled out Christmas for anything. We have lots of reasons for not doing the big family meal thing but we wouldn't swap our day for anything!

Do you own any ugly Christmas jumpers?
I own quite a few Christmas jumpers. Personally I don't think any of them are ugly but one is definitely the traditional over-the-top Christmas jumper design.

How do you spend Christmas Eve?
Much like the rest of our Christmas it's very relaxed. We always save our favourite two Christmas movie's for this day (Polar Express and The Muppet Christmas Carol), I have a huge bath with a Lush Christmas bath bomb and we usually have a takeaway.

When do you put up your decorations?
We always aim for the second weekend in December. I'd put them up at the start of December and who knows now we have an artificial tree instead of a real one, I might just get my own way next year!

Do you have a decorating theme?
Nope, I always say I like my tree to look like a Christmas fairy has thrown up on it. Bright, colourful and lots of memories. I do like trees that have a colour scheme but for me a tree full of special ornaments that hold lots of memories is much nicer.

Do you have a tree topper?
Yep! A silver glitter star.

What's been your least favourite gift that you have received?
I honestly don't know, I don't think I've ever had anything really terrible!

What would you like in your stocking this year?
Anything Disney themed and some chocolate.

When did you start buying gifts this year?
I think I started at the end of August, it was going so well and I thought I'd be finished really early but at the time of writing I still have a gift left to buy and I only finished the main bit of my shopping last week.

Have you ever recycled a gift?
No, I honestly don't think I have.

What's your favourite Christmas food?
How could I possibly pick? I just love all food at Christmas from party food, cheese and crackers, chocolate, the actual Christmas dinner, I could go on. I do have a particularly soft spot for making the leftovers into bubble and squeak though!

What do you leave out for Santa?
When I was a kid it would just be the traditional mince pie and milk. Obviously now as an adult I don't leave anything out.

Have you ever been carolling?
No I haven't.

What do you usually have for Christmas dinner?
All the food! Turkey, roast potatoes, veg, cauiliflower cheese, mashed potato, pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings.

When do you open gifts?
Christmas Day morning, we have to start the day with a coffee and a bacon or sausage sandwich then it's straight into the presents.

How do you spend Boxing Day?
In the laziest way possible. For the last couple of years, Josh and I have played lots of games on Christmas Day evening and ended up a little tipsy so Boxing Day for us consists of staying in pjs, watching movies and eating lots of food.

Describe a Christmas present you wanted badly as a kid, but never received
Those doll styling heads, I can't remember what they were called but the ones where you could put makeup on them and style their hair. I wasn't a particularly girly girl as a child and I had a lot of what you would probably call 'boy toys' but I really wanted this one girly toy and I never got it!

Have you ever kissed anyone under the mistletoe?
No I haven't actually!

What's your favourite character from a Christmas movie, book or TV special?
Oh I don't know about character so I think I'm going to have to change this slightly. My favourite Christmas story is A Christmas Carol, I love it in all its forms. I read the book every year and I love the Disney version of the story with Jim Carey and of course the Muppet version too.

If you were Santa Claus, what treats would you want to be left out for you on Christmas Eve?
I'm not a fan of mince pies so I'd say either chocolate or Stollen because I love that stuff.

What's your favourite Christmas movie?
Probably The Muppet Christmas Carol closely followed by the Disney version of a Christmas Carol.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Do you know what, I'm not sure! I'm pretty sure I have had at least one white Christmas though but I honestly couldn't tell you when.

Where do you usually spend the holidays?
At home with Josh and our fur babies, Buddy and Dobby.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. It's always been my favourite song ever since I can remember, way before I was even a Paul McCartney fan. I've now been lucky enough to actually see the song played live twice at Paul McCartney concerts which makes it even more special to me now!

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Sometimes, I usually buy Josh a bit of something to open on Christmas Eve. Before Josh and I lived together we often wouldn't get to spend Christmas Day together so we always used to open all of our presents on Christmas Eve.

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? (No cheating)
Oooo lets see... Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Donna, Vixen, Cupid, Comet and Blitzen (and Rudolph!). Oh wow, I've surprised myself there I didn't think I'd be able to do it!

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
All of them! We pretty much do the same things every year and I wouldn't change anything.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
This is a bit of a sore point this year. We've always had a real tree since we moved in together, I love how they look and smell but honestly the mess they make is unreal. When we bought this years tree and got it home it was awful, like probably the ugliest tree we'd have. We talked about maybe switching to artificial next year but after just a few days our tree was drooping so bad, there's no way it would have lasted until Christmas Day so we had to throw it out and get an artificial tree. I think from now on we'll be sticking with fake.

What is your favourite holiday treat/sweet/food?
All the sweet stuff? I love Stollen, I always make a trifle (this year I'm going for a chocolate one) and if I do say so myself my chocolate orange tart is pretty amazing!

Be honest, do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?
Both. I absolutely love buying gifts for people and I always wish I had more money to spend on other. I love giving Josh all his presents at Christmas but I'm not going to lie I do enjoy receiving presents too.

What is the best Christmas present that you have ever received?
Oh this is a tough one. A couple of year ago my Dad booked Josh and I on a mini cruise to Amsterdam and gave us that for Christmas which was an absolutely amazing Christmas present. Then last year Josh proposed to me a couple of weeks before Christmas which I mean come on that's probably never going to get knocked off the number one spot but also last year Josh made me up a Haunted Mansion themed gift box. The Haunted Mansion is my favourite Disney attraction so to get a full box of gifts around it was amazing!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I'd love to visit a Christmas market in Germany or a cute town somewhere in America with snow.

Are you a pro wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I fail miserably. I absolutely hate wrapping presents and I can't make it look good to save my life.

Most memorable Christmas moment?
Getting engaged 2 weeks before Christmas will probably always be my most memorable Christmas moment.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I'm not sure to be honest. I think I was just getting older and realising things probably didn't work how I thought they did which probably lead to me asking my parents lots of questions. As an adult now though I do actually still find Christmas and the idea of Santa really magical.

What makes the holidays special for you?
The cosy, homely nights where you're snuggled up watching a Christmas movie in the glow of the Christmas tree lights where it all feels warm and fuzzy. I also absolutely love the run up to Christmas.

So there you go, that's pretty much everything I could tell you about my Christmas.
