Juggling the ups and downs of a house move

The moment you make the decision to move house it seems like your blood pressure instantly rises. There are so many elements to juggle and it seems like nothing will ever been easy and smooth sailing. You look forward to making your home warm and cosy as soon as you have moved in, but before you get to that point there will be a hundred hurdles to overcome. You need to firm up the moving date, get your mortgage approved and then you can start thinking about making the final touches to your new home. Until then you need to take every day as it comes and try to remain calm throughout the entire process. The day will soon come when you arrive in your gorgeous new abode, but for now it’s time to tackle the logistics.

Move in Date Dilemmas
When your moving date keeps getting pushed further and further away it is incredibly frustrating. You want to start making the relevant preparations so that you aren’t living under a pile of boxes for the next few weeks. A good idea is to pack away all of the items that aren’t immediately essential for you right now. Whether it’s old belongings from the attic or other bits and pieces you won’t need for a while. You can keep them all safe in a place like Now Storage, so that you don’t have to deal with living in a house full of boxes. Once your moving date has been confirmed you can simply get the boxes from the storage compartment and move them into your new home safely and smoothly.

Mortgage Mayhem
The waiting game to get your mortgage approved is an absolute killer. Every time the phone rings you think it’s your advisor who is going to give you the go ahead. Try not to focus all of your time and energy on this as it will only make the time go slower. Refocus on something else and try to take your mind off it. Everything will go through in the end and you will be able to get the process started.

Decorating and Refurbishing
If you’re moving into a home that needs a lot of work doing, then the move in date isn’t always such a celebratory time. You will need to start organising plasterers, decorators and landscapers to get started on all of the handy work. You might not be able to move into your new home for a good new months, but at least the process has started and you are getting more productive jobs done.

Making Your New Place Your Own
Making your new house a home is everything you have dreamed of since you started the process of moving in. Adding those finishing touches to your new abode will be the icing on top of the cake for you. Choosing amazing accessories and picking out your perfect furniture is the fun aspect, so enjoy every moment of it.

The ups and downs of a house move will never get any easier, but if you can remain calm and positive it will all turn out well in the end.
