DAYS OUT: Tropical Butterfly House

On Sunday me, my Dad, my stepmum and my niece had a day out at the Tropical Butterfly House which actually has lots of other animals aside from butterflies. My niece seemed to quite enjoy all the animals and I enjoyed feeding them! I took so many photo's whilst we were there that it was hard to narrow them down, so get comfortable!

The little robin came into my Dad's hand for some food!
I fed the goats, rabbits and meerkats. Although I wasn't a big fan of handling the worms the meerkats ate!

The picture of the butterfly at the top is after it had landed on my Dad's arm. You could do a lemur walk through so it was really good be so close to them!

The day was nicely rounded off with a BBQ then once my niece had gone to bed, Dad lit the fire-pit and we sat outside with a few drinks. A pretty perfect day.

Making my heart melt

Over the weekend and bank holiday my niece, Alice, came to stay so Josh popped over to see her and spend some time with her. She loves it when he chases her as she crawls across the floor, or lifts her high up in the air. As she loves walking around now (even though she can't quite manage it on her own yet!) she enjoyed taking Josh along with her just as much as Josh enjoyed been taken along!
The sight of the two of them together just makes my heart melt, it's so cute!

I don't normally put photo's of my niece on here but seen as she has her back to the camera it's ok, and Alice and Uncle Josh times are just too cute to not to share them!

They're my favourite two people in the whole world!

BEAUTY: The best beauty products under £5

It's well known that I love a good bargain, drugstore brands to use the American term. I don't see the point in paying out for high end stuff when there's some amazing and cheaper alternatives. Cheap price does not mean rubbish quality. So today I thought I'd show you a bunch of products all under £5 that I love.

Palmers body scrub £4.99 - this is the best and the cheapest scrub I've tried. It's really creamy and moisturising but gritty enough to buff away dead skin.

Dove oil leave-in spray £3.59 - This is amazing stuff on wet and dry hair. It smells lovely and makes my hair soft as well as taming fly aways.

Tressemme heat defence spray £4.89 - I've used this spray for years and on the rare occasions I do use heat now it's still my go to spray for providing protection.

W7 nail polish £1 - I pick these up on a market stall in my home town for £1, you can get them on the internet but they are a little dearer. There's loads of colours and they're really good quality.

Aldi face serum (around £3.50-£4.00) - I can't remember how much I paid for this but it certainly wasn't a lot. After using a Body Shop serum previous to this I can safely say the Aldi one wins. It's lovely to use.

MUA lipstick £1 - I can't resist picking these up and for such a cheap price the collection I have has hardly broke the bank. There's loads of colours to choose from the the quality is really good.

Sudocreme £2.55 - I've used several lotions and potions tackle spots when they pop up and none match up to this stuff. It gently heals the spot better than anything else.

Barry M gelly nail polish £3.99 - I love how shiny these and are they come in really pretty colours, I definitely need to add a few more to my collection.

I have a collection of favourite products under £10 coming soon so watch out for that! Let me know what your favourite products under £5 are.

The Loving Lately List #3

It's time to share the love again with my list of lovelies from around the internet. Enjoy!

I'm just in love with this print, it got me thinking that Josh and I could probably create something similar though ourselves, for out future home. This line in the film always reduces me to tears.

This post from Gem is almost a month old however I just adore this dress and Gem looks lovely in it.

Paige's latest photo shoot is so lovely, I can't resist anything with a bit of sparkle.

Megan's proposal story was lovely to read about.

I always enjoy Lisette's Thankful Thursday posts but it was nice to see that even after a rubbish week she managed to find some positive's.

Jennie's list of things she would like to now and in the future had me really thinking about the things I'd love to do throughout my life.

This video of a cat riding a hoover dressed as a shark is just as hilarious as it sounds, the longer you watch it, the funnier it gets!

These photo's of scenes from WWII blended into modern day photo's are amazing as are these photo's of day and night blended together.

Video: Recent Buys #16

For this video I filmed on a new camera rather than my webcam so the experience hasn't been great! I spent all day yesterday trying to get it to upload to the correct size, I had to film the actual video twice and the camera is a little out of focus when stuff gets near it. Hopefully with a little practice my videos will get better now I'm filming on something that's a little better in quality than my webcam though!

Despite all the troubles this video has caused me I hope you enjoy watching it.

Happy List #92

As expected living back at home and being currently unemployed is bringing some real up and down moments to my life, some of which I spoke about briefly here. For the most part I do like to keep this blog a happy place though (although it sometimes good for the soul to let everything pour out!) so there will always be a special place in my heart for the Happy List feature. At the moment blogging is one of the things keeping me sane, I honestly don't know what I'd do without and after a little bit of a dry spell, inspiration is slowly creeping back in and I'm excited to see what ideas come to mind next.

In the weeks since my last Happy List I have celebrated, in a very relaxing and understated manner, my 22nd birthday, enjoyed spending my birthday pennies on some treats for myself, had a date day with Josh, finished watching the TV series Hannibal (which I highly recommend) and reveled in early morning snuggles with Josh's cat when I've stayed at his. So I guess it's not all bad.

Birthday presents / New things to try / Messing around (this photo amuses me more than it should) / Went to see The Conjuring

New mint green shift dress / Look beauty buys / Shopping (video coming next week) / Cat cuddles
Cute little Lexi / Me and Josh before going out for a meal / Sleepy owls at a local gala

Video: The Boyfriend Tag

A while back I got Josh to join me for a video and together we did the boyfriend tag. Josh's crap memory and inability to behave himself certainly made for an interesting filming session but it was really fun to do so I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Don't forget to click through to watch it on YouTube and please subscribe to my channel if you don't already.

A day in the life...

At the start of the year I did a photo an hour blog post (here) and I thought I might be quite good to do another one. So on Saturday I did just that, much like the other one I took (by this I mean Josh!) of something that happened within each hour, most of the day was quite relaxed but Josh and I went out at night to see a band with my dad and stepmum. Although nothing extraordinary happened I do like posts like this to look back on. They're all iphone photo's so they're not the best quality!
So here's what Josh and I got up to...

 8-9 Coco Pops finished
9-10 Peanut butter on toast for me and plain toast for Josh whilst watching Storage Wars Texas / 10-11 Complaining to Look Beauty as on the the items (not pictured) sent to me was the wrong thing
11-12 Traveling back from Josh's to mine / 12-1 Josh watching Pawn Stars whilst I ironed my dress for the night
1-2 A quick power nap to recharge for the night / 2-3 Josh cooked whilst I showered
3-4 Looking at expensive houses we'll never afford and drinking tea / 4-5 Playing Words against each other
5-6 Catching up with writing Happy Lists / 6-7 Getting ready and listening to records
7-8 Ready to go out / 8-9 Waiting for the band to come on
9-10 Watching the band / 10-11 Drinks and crisps
11-12 Still watching the band / 12-1 Bed time!

The Not Quite 25 Before 25 Two Year Update

Two years ago, shortly after my 20th birthday I created a list of things I would like to achieve before I'm 25. I have 21 things on the list because I couldn't actually think of 25 things. Two years on and I'd like to think I'm a little wiser than when I wrote the list (haha who am I kidding?!) and I realise some of the things on there in reality probably won't get achieved before I'm 25, but that's not to say they won't ever get achieved. In the same respect there's things on there that have now become much more important to me than when I first wrote the list so it will be exciting to see what the next year brings. You can see what I managed to tick off the list in the first year here and today I'll be going through what I've done between my 21st birthday and my 22nd birthday.

So in this past year I've:
  • been on four mini break to Liverpool (twice), London and Portsmouth
  • seen a show in London (Wicked)
  • visited lots of new places including place in Portsmouth, Wales and Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Learned to make lots more recipes
  • Had a holiday in Wales
So in all this past year has been quite a fun one with me going on lots of mini breaks and to new places. Over the next year I'm hoping to focus more on the serious ones of the list such as graduating which is happening in November and getting a place of my own with Josh, fingers crossed it all goes well!

You can see my full not quite 25 before 25 list here.

BEAUTY: Confessions of a (non) beauty blogger

Over the past few months I've seen a couple of these kinds of posts floating around and thought it would be quite a fun thing to do. I love beauty products but I'm by no means a beauty blogger. I have some quite bad habits! So here are my confessions...

1. Most of the time I don't wear makeup. Despite the fact I have quite a lot of makeup it's very rare I actually wear any, I mean it's probably less than once a week! I just don't feel the need to wear it, I'm comfortable without it on and don't need it to feel better about myself so I don't bother.

2. When I do wear makeup I sometimes use makeup wipes, shock horror! It's rare but if I'm on holiday or I've had a drink I just can't be arsed with all the different cleansing lotions, cotton wool and everything else.

3. Up until a couple of years back I bit my nails constantly. Bitter nail biting polish didn't stop me and neither did those stories such as biting you nails transfers more germs than licking a toilet would. Gross yes but I wasn't bothered. I have now stopped though.

4. When I was younger I dyed my hair a lot, blonde, red, brown and every variation of those shades. When I was around 14 I wanted my hair dying dark brown so I got my mum to do it. When we rinsed it off my hair had gone jet black...not a good look on me.

5. Back in the days of my black hair I thought, thick glittery blue eyeshadow was an amazing look on me. Looking back it really wasn't.

6. When I was 16 I cut my hair really short (above chin length) and have spent the last 6 years growing it and not daring to having anything more than a trim. Looking back I don't think short hair suited me at all and I much prefer the long hair I now have.

7. When I was a lot, lot younger I attempted to dry shave my legs, it was a nice day and I wanted to wear shorts but my Dad was rushing me to get sorted so I attacked my legs with a razor and spent all day with itchy, bumpy, red legs. Not pretty, infact I probably could have left them as I have blonde leg hairs anyway and they probably weren't even that bad!

8. I leave nail polish on my toe nails until it's chipped away that much there's barely any polish left. That's pretty disgusting!

9. The vast majority of the time I use lipsticks before even thinking about photographing them for future reviews. I'm just too eager to try them out to think about getting photo's.

10. My hair brushes get extremely clogged up with hair but I never clean them out, Josh always does it because he gets fed up of seeing them in such states.

So there you have, some disgusting habits, a few beauty disaster and lots of confessions!

Educated and Jobless

A bit of a serious post today, I'm not sure what direction it's going to go in as I just wanted to sit and write. But here's the thing... I've left university and I've joined the ranks of the unemployed, more preciously I've joined the ranks of the well educated and unemployed.

Now I could sit here and quote figures and statistics, I could say the Government do nothing for people like me (this is true but we won't go there!) instead I'm going to sum up my situation in one simple sentence... having a degree and being unemployed is shit. Going to the job centre has to be one of the most soul destroying things ever. Knowing I'm receiving benefits makes me feel like a scrounger because the fact of the matter is there's such a stigma attached to it all.

I'm fed up of hearing people say I just need to find any job to put me on but the thing is I don't want any old job. I went to university for 3 years, I've left with a very good 2:1 degree, I don't want to work in McDonalds or go back to waitressing. I'm not being stuck up about it all because I'm not restricting my job search to ones that need a degree but I want something that'll mean I can move out of home and live with Josh, not any crappy old job. Which nicely leads me onto my next point...

...Living back at home after three years of living with Josh is not good. Don't get me wrong I love my Dad and stepmum and I have everything I want here but when you've not lived at home for 3 years moving back is really bloody difficult. I don't really have the same freedom and I miss living with Josh.

I don't know what I'm trying to say in this post so I live it there, I guess I'm just a little fed up with everything at the moment. Moving away from my home town was one of the best things I did but now I'm stuck back here again and feeling rubbish about everything. Things can only get better right?
