Video: Recent Buys #15

I have another recent buys video for you today, it's all I film really! I should come up with some new ideas for videos probably. As usual there's a mixture of stuff in the video, beauty and clothing with a fair few Primark items and I few other random pieces. All the links to stuff mentioned in the video are underneath so watch it on Youtube if you want to see all that and please subscribe to my channel.
Hope you enjoy it!

DAYS OUT: Black Country Living Museum

Yesterday Josh and I took a break from doing work and decided to make the most of the sunshine and have a day out. We went to the Black Country Living Museum which has been created to look like a village in the Black Country in the Victorian era. It has a mine, village shops, fairground, school, canal and much more. You can look inside all the buildings and go on a tour down the mine and the canal has boat trips to the underground limestone mines.

One downside to the fact that neither of us can drive is that we don't really go to any attractions together. We have lots of days out but it tends to be to easier to reach places whereas attractions tend to be difficult to get to using public transport and walking. However the Black Country Living Museum was really easy to get to on the train and walking so it was really nice to have a day out doing something different. We picked the perfect day to go as it was so warm and sunny (we even got a little sun burnt, oopps).

If it's your sort of thing I'd really recommend the Black Country Living Museum as you can have a full day out there and it's really interesting. We both really enjoyed it.

BEAUTY: Pink Hair

So the news is I've dip dyed my hair pink! After wanting to do it for a quite a while I finally took the plunge on Saturday. Pretty much since I got Pinterest I've pinned pictures of hair in a variety of colours and I decided I wanted to dip dye it pink in around November last year. However I didn't want to lighten the ends of my hair especially for a semi-permanent dye but I wasn't sure how well pink would show up without bleaching the ends.

As a side note I have light brown high with natural highlights of blonde in it giving a golden look (or so my hairdresser says!) I don't dye it or highlight it, it's all natural. I knew with having blonde there was a chance the pink would show up quite well but I just wasn't expecting it to look very bright. I dyed my hair a lot throughout my teens but never anything bright like the pink.

I bought Crazy Color's dye in Pinkissmo which is a really bright pink from Ebay (this seller) and it was super cheap plus with a ready mixed bottle I'll get around 3 maybe 4 uses out of it which is really good as I intended on keeping the pink for a little while but it says it fades in 4 to 8 washes. It's a thick cream formula which is super easy to apply.

To dip dye it I parted my hair so it was in two sections and lightly backcombed it then applied the cream using my hands (in gloves) the bottle says to use on wet hair but ignore this if you're dip dying and just use it on dry hair. It recommends leaving it on for half an hour but to be honest mine was on close to an hour. Now obviously I wouldn't do this with a normal permanent hair dye but to be honest I can't really see as this dye would do any damage so I think it's up to you whether you stick to the rules or leave it a little longer. When I rinsed it and dried it you could definitely tell my hair was pink but it could have done with been a touch brighter.

So Josh volunteered to redo it for my last night and used his hands without gloves so he could work it in better (again not advisable with permanent but this stuff is fine, it does stain but it rinses off skin really really easy). This time I split my hair into six little section as opposed to two big ones and didn't backcomb, as I have quite thick hair this made it a lot easier. This time when I rinsed and dried it, it looked exactly how I wanted it to. No it isn't as bright as it would have been if I'd have bleached the ends of my hair but it's still quite a bright pink and I'm really pleased with it. I'm glad I plucked up the courage to do it. Oh and thanks Josh for dying it!

Reading, Wanting, Pinning #3

Wow it's been longer than I realised since I last shared the love and showed you what had been catching my eye on the internet so I'm back with just that today! By rights I actually shouldn't really be wanting anything as I've done so much shopping this week so I've come up with a few things that aren't clothing or beauty related. I've read some pretty inspiring posts lately too so it's going to be nice to share those so I'll get on with it.

Jennie's posts are always amongst my favourite's but this one about how it's ok not to be liked by everyone really is worth a read (then read all her other lovely posts too!)

Zoe's post about living while your young really gave me some food for thought and actually changed my views on a lot of things. I read it just at the right time as I was contemplating a few things that I wasn't sure if I should go ahead with but have now decided to. I'm thinking of doing a blog post to explain a few things and have a good old chat thanks to this post.

When I decided to give blogging a break last month one of the things I'd really had enough of was the perfect life blogging that seems to have been adopted by some people. Now I'm all for a bit a positivity but I really don't need to read about how amazing, wonderful and sexy your boyfriend is in every post it's like you have something to prove. As it turns out I'm not the only one that thinks this way as Charlotte discusses in her blog post, very funny and very honest!

When Helen posted about Dina Goldstein's photography I spent ages looking at all her work and it's pretty amazing!

Blog Inc book for a little something I have planned / Diana F+ camera as I've wanted it for so long but I've yet to take the plunge

The funniest video of a cat having a bath. I first watched this a few years ago but it never fails to make me laugh and since I watched it again the other day I thought I'd include it here (oh it even has a dog getting a bath on it too!)

You can find me on Pinterest here. Recently I've been busy pinning summer inspiration pictures after writing this post.
I hope you enjoyed my latest roundup. Has anything interesting/inspiring caught your eye lately? Let me know!

BEAUTY: Nail Polish Collection and Swatches

Last year I did a nail polish collection post but without swatches (which you can look at here if you like). Since then I have had a clear out of polish and of course bought more! Since I stopped biting my nail around a year and a half ago I love painting my nails, I don't half a massive collection of polishes but I have a fair few and I love glitter polishes it also became apparent whilst swatching the polishes that I love coral coloured ones too though it isn't really a surprise as it's my favourite colour. For this updated nail polish collection post I've included swatches of the polishes so you can see them better, I've done them on nail wheels as it's so much more practical than painting them on my real nails and all the colours are listed above the photo's. Just a quick note the final nail polish is on it's own because I only bought it yesterday and I'd photographed the nail wheels ages ago but I still wanted to include the new polish!

Happy List #87

Well here's a blog post that hasn't been around for quite a while. I know I said I wouldn't be doing a Happy List every week but it's been six weeks since my last one. I definitely won't be leaving it as long next time as I do like to look back on these posts. I thought I'd just do a quick catch up before moving on to the photo's as it's been such a long time since the last Happy List. Firstly we booked to go to Liverpool (again!) in June, long time readers will know I've been to Liverpool quite a lot and I promise we did look at going somewhere else but it just drew us back in, we booked it as a little treat for finishing university (scary thought!) as we figured it's going to be a while before we can do anything like it again. We also went home for two weeks over Easter and I got to spend a lot of time with my niece which was lovely considering I don't get to see her much, she turns one next month and I'm gutted that I won't see her for her birthday so I made sure I spent lots of time with her over the holidays. As she stayed at my Dad's house both weekends I was back it meant I saw her loads too and I swear I fell more in love with her with every second that went by! I've never been that fussed about children but I even shed a little tear when I said bye to her for the last time, what's happened to me?! Aside from all that I'm right in the middle of my final project, which is what I'm doing instead of a dissertation. I only have one month left until it has to be handed in so it's getting a little scary now but I made a list on here of things I want to do this summer/things that are already arranged so I can keep looking at all the fun things that are going to happen as well, you can take a look at the list here.
Anyway enough of the rambling here are some photo's from the past few weeks.

One of the things on my summer list was to dip dye my hair so I took the plunge and bought this pink hair dye (I've just got to actually dip dye it now!) / We went to see Oz the Great and Powerful, it was good but just not as good as I was expecting / Another thing on my list was to buy daffodils to brighten up our room so that's what I've done / I bought these from an American sweet shop and oh they were good!

I'm not a lager fan but this zest stuff is good, it would be even nicer if it was actually warm outside as it's got quite a summery feel to it / Whilst back at home I went to Brodsworth Hall with my Dad, stepmum and niece I've been before but it was nice to look around again even if it was freezing!

So that's everything, I promise not to leave it as long until the next Happy List.

Summer Breeze

Tomorrow marks my final few months living with Josh as we are moving back to our own homes in July. I'm trying not to dwell on it too much at the moment and instead I'm focusing on all the fun things I want to do over the next few months. There's a few places a want to visit that we've never got round to visiting so they're definitely at the top of the list. I've been pinning pictures of places I want to visit to get me in the mood too. I'm hoping for some nice days so we can do all the stuff I have in mind. So please summer weather if you are listening be good this year!
To keep me focused on all the good things I've decided to share with you all the things I hope to do over the next few months or things that have already been planned, some of it is just little stuff but this way I can look back and cheer myself up and hopefully have a pretty good summer!

  1. Go on picnics in the park and by the river in Leamington Spa
  2. Visit Warwick
  3. Visit Worcester
  4. Visit Stratford-upon-Avon
  5. Take lots and lots of photo's of all the new places we visit
  6. Discover new places when we go to Liverpool in June
  7. Go for a nice walk in the sunshine around Coombe Country Park
  8. Go for a meal out and see Paul McCartney's Rockshow
  9. See Chris Ramsey at Warwick Arts Centre
  10. Bake a big batch of cookies
  11. Brighten up the room with a big bunch of Daffodils
  12. Go on more dates
  13. Make skittles vodka
  14. Dip dye my hair (I've been wanting to do it for months!)
  15. Spend more time having fun, laughing and enjoying things
So that's everything! The last one is the most important one to me as if I stick to it then it'll make everything above it even better. I'm a natural worrier and I stress out a lot and neither of those will change anything so there's not point in doing them. I'll leave you with some of the pretty pictures I found on Pinterest of the places I want to visit.

Tuesday Treats #32 The Big Spring/Summer Wishlist

Hands up who's ready for some warm weather now? I know I am. Wearing cosy jumpers and big fluffy socks has well and truely lost all novelty now, bring on the shorts, strappy tops and cocktails!
So to get myself (and you) and the spring mood I'm doing my ultimate spring/summer wishlist today. This may be the most inappropriate wishlist ever to grace this blog for two facts, it's full of summer clothing (I still have snow in my garden) and there's a fair few home pieces on here (come July Josh and I will no longer have our own place and we'll be moving back to our own homes) but hey ho I'm not one to let the small details stand in the way. As there's so much I've split it into two the clothing and beauty stuff then the home stuff. Hopefully by the end we'll all feel a bit more summery!

Leopard print top / Shorts / Dress / Lace Top / Pumps / Blusher (shade Satin Magenta) / Perfume / Nail Polish / Both Lipsticks (shades Calamanco Coral and Cashmere Coral)

It's so hard to pick favourite's here as I genuinely love it all. The Barry M nail polish I will definitely be buying though. I love the leopard print top and the Marc Jacobs perfume smells lovely so I'd really like a bottle of it. The blusher and two lipsticks are from & Other Stories, H&M sister company, the makeup is slightly more than I'd usually pay but it does look lovely.

Box / 1st Cushion / 2nd Cushion / Photo Frame / Candle 1 / Candle 2 / Calendar

I'd love all this stuff. As a huge Beatles fan the top three things appeal to me right away. The cushions are quite expensive though. I love the postcard style of the photo frame and the little tile calendar is so cute (I'd get the white one). The candles smell so nice as they also sell them in Debenhams so I've had a little smell. The orange one is pretty different to what I'd usually go for but it's lovely and the powder fresh one just smells really clean.
