Happy List #54

Before this weeks Happy List I'm just going to apologise for the facts that the width of some photo's is different to others. This is because half were took on my old camera and half on Josh's new camera but next week they'll all be the same as we're back at uni now so all the photo's will be taken on Josh's new camera.

Scarlett Hearts Jewellery

When I read Becca's post about Scarlett Hearts jewellery I popped straight over to have a nosey at the jewellery.

Two necklaces caught my eye (amongst a few other things!) and I knew I had to buy them. They were lovely pieces and amazing prices. When my little parcel arrived with the two necklaces I certainly wasn't disappointed. Both necklaces came in little pink bags and I also received a badge and a little note on pink love heart sticky notes.

Aside from the fact that the jewellery is really nice, I loved the personal touch with the little note. I much prefer ordering from independant online stores especially when things are handmade like the are on Scarlett Hearts. It feels much more personal and you know you are getting something a little different.

So onto the necklaces...

As you can see I ordered a bronze one with an antique birdcage with a heart in it called 'Caught Up' and a silver spike one called 'Spikes'. The spikes one is currently sold out but it may come back in stock the heart one is still in stock. I was just going to order 'Spikes' at first as I've been after a necklace like this for a while and I liked that this one was a little more delicate with just three spikes on it but then I saw 'Caught Up' and couldn't resist it. Both necklaces were just £3.50 each which it really really could for how lovely they are.

 Caught Up and Spikes

I seriously reccomend taking a look at the Scarlett Hearts shop. I have no doubt I will be ordering from here again in the future.

SAVING MONEY: Weekly and Monthly Savings

I'm back with a few more little money tips for you all. On Monday my student loan got paid into my account (yay no more overdraft) and it got me thinking, I like to ocassionally treat myself (who doesn't?!) but I also like to save my money for things like presents, days out with Josh, mini breaks and the more serious things like TV licence etc. So how could I effectively split my money between treats, savings and weekly money to live on? Well actually it's fairly easy.

When ever I get my student loan the first thing do is work out how many weeks it is until the next payment then I divide the amount in my bank between the number of weeks until the next loan to give me a weekly budget. I always try my best to stick to this budget and I usually do quite well.

So I've decided that at the start of every week I'll take out the amount I have for that week and try and stick to only buying what I really need so in theory I'll have a bit left at the end of the week. For example if my weekly budget was £50 and I only spent £20 then there would be £30 left over. Please tell me your still reading this I don't want to bore anyone with sounding like a GCSE maths question!

Now instead of rolling that over into the next week I'll put the spare cash away somewhere safe and take out my next weekly budget and carry on like this until the end of the month. Now at the end of the month I could have lets say £100 left so here's what I've decided. I'm going to split whatever is left at the end of the month between me (for things like little treats and saving for presents) and a savings account of Josh's which I pay money into which will be used for things like days out, mini breaks and the more boring things like just savings in general for when we finish uni. This way I can treat myself guilt free and still save lots of money!

Been good with money allows for little treats like this

My next quick point is about the savings account. Now I'm not suggesting you should rush out and open a joint account with your other half because well that's just not sensible in some situations but the savings account I'm referring to in here is solely in Josh's name I just have a standing order which pays money into it every week (as well as paying extra in as explained above). We've done this for around a year and a half now and it works really well for us as Josh always lets me see what in the account etc even though it's in his name and we're both quite sensible with money so are good at making payments into it and leaving it there for things we really want to do and things we have to save for. It's really good for us as we live together whilst at uni so like I said you have to be sensible about these things but it's always good to have savings whether they're your own or shared with someone else!

BEAUTY: Lacura (Aldi) Aqua-Complete Multi-Intensive Serum

I thought it was about time I introduced you to one of my favourite products, the Lacura face serum. Lacura is Aldi'd brand of skincare and beauty products and whilst it may not be the first place that you immediately think of for amazing skincare you need to try it.
I first started using serum over a year ago when my moisturiser just wasn't enough for my really dry patches so I bought the Vitamin E serum from the Bodyshop for £10 and it was alright, then my mum bought the Lacura one and said I should give it ago and I haven't looked back since.

Aldi Lacura Face Serum

What Lacura Say

Lacura Aqua-Complete Multi-Intensive Serum is a light cream gel which has been developed in accordance with the latest scientific research. The special combination of ingredients includes Vitamins E and C, Shea Butter and Macadamia Nut Oil. Ocean minerals and the moisture complex with 24 hour effect help to improve skin elasticity. When used regularly the skin feels noticeably smoother and tighter.

What I Think

This serum hands down beats the more expensive Bodyshop one it terms of price (the Lacura one is a mere £3.49 for 50ml), texture, packaging and most importantly of all the effect it has on my skin.
The Lacura serum comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump lid whereas the Bodyshop one is in a plastic tube with a pump. This serum is a cream gel which is really lightweight yet very effective whereas the Bodyshop one is just a gel and in my opinion no where near as moisturising.
Personally I think this serum (along with a new skincare rountine) has really really helped my skin, I never really get any dry patches like I used to, obviously the occasional one does happen which is only normal but the patches aren't occuring anywhere near as often as they used to which is great.
The true effectiveness of this serum was put to the test just last week when I came back home for Easter and I was without a bottle of it before I went shopping with my mum for some more, I noticed my skin didn't feel as soft and smooth as it does when I use this and I was really glad when I bought another bottle.
I use this twice a day before my moisturiser and it makes my skin so smooth and soft, I have combination skin and it doesn't make my face oily at all and it really fixes up the dry areas. Another huge plus is a little goes a long way so the bottle lasts for so long making it even more of a bargain.
I really can't find any fault with this serum which is why it's one of my most loved products and I seriously reccomend you all get down to your closest Aldi and buy a bottle!

I'm really pleased that I've kepy these posts up because as well as writing them on here I also have a book with them written down so it's nice to have something positve to look back on. I feel as though this post should be a really good to mark the year anniversary however I'm afraid there aren't that many photo's as I'm back home for 3 weeks so I haven't been with Josh (he usually takes my photos) and I've just been busy visiting family. DAYS OUT: Chester Zoo

On Tuesday I went to Chester Zoo with my Dad and stepmum. I love anything to do with animals and for a very long time I wanted to be a vet so this was a perfect day out for me! It was really cold and kept raining on and off but that didn't stop me having a really amazing day. It was very busy so it was difficult to get photo's of some things especially when they were behind glass as there were just so many reflections but I did manage to get some good photo's so I thought I'd share them with you.
