SAVING MONEY: Current Boots Offers (29.03.12)

I've just realised I haven't done one of these posts in like 6 weeks so I thought it was about time I brought some more money saving tips to you all.

Since the last post I've done quite well at not spending a lot of money although my hair dryer broke so I did have to pay out for another one. Luckily Boots had one I liked the sound of on offer so I got one for £18. Funnily enough today's post is all about Boots.

With spring well and truely here it's the right time to invest in some new makeup, skincare and haircare and Boots has all that covered. They currently have 3 for 2 across makeup, haircare, indulgent bathing, vitamins and men's No7. It's seriously worth checking out if like me you can't go into Boots with out buying something. As far as I know the offer is on until mid April which is really good.

Another great offer on in Boots at the moment is spend £10 or over on Soap and Glory products and get a free full sized (that's 500ml) Foam Call shower gel. Now that is a really good bargain, normally the Foam Call shower gel retails for £6.50 and with it been such a big bottle it will last ages. I really couldn't pass up on this as I was ready for some new body butter so I bought the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter which is one of my favourite body butter's ever although I haven't had any in quite a while as I've been using up some Body Shop one's I had. Seen as the Righteous Butter is £10.50 I got the shower gel free.

And finally when I was in Boots buying into all these great offers I was given a double advantage points voucher with my receipt which is valid until 22nd April. I've been saving my advantage card points for quite a while now so I'm all for getting more! Actually I'll be using this voucher tomorrow to treat myself to some new nail polishes which also come in the 3 for 2 offer as well!

 Boots goodies. All on offer

I think you'll agree that Boots has come out on top with all these offers at the minute and it's great to stock up on essentials as well as the odd little treat.

Will you be checking out these offers and treating yourself?

Tuesday Treats #19

This is the last Tuesday Treats pastels special. If you've missed any of the previous one's here's the New Look one, the River Island one and the Missguided one.
This week it's Topshop's turn, there's some lovely stuff on there so it's a slightly bigger list than usual. I wish I could actually afford Topshop clothing!

EDIT: These videos have been deleted as I was no longer happy with the format and with having them on my YouTube channel. Please click here to see more recent Tuesday Treats posts.

  1. Anything animal print is going to be a winner for me and this is so cute for spring/summer
  2. I love all the 'speckle' sort of stuff in Topshop and this mint green jumper is lovely for when it's a little cooler in spring
  3. I died and went to heaven when I saw this jumper, it's amazing! The price tag is far too hefty though
  4. I really want this bracelet, I love skull jewellery and clothing and this is really nice for spring/summer
  5. The more pink jeans I see the more I want a pair and I love anything high waisted so these are a winner for me
  6. Oh this is so cute but seriously £32 for this, sorry but that is way over-priced! I'll have to admire from afar!
  7. The little pop of pastel on these shoes is lovely and I really like the shiny heel
  8. I love a good little lace dress and the colour of this is gorgeous, I really want it
  9. This is such a lovely bag and despite the price tag it's completely worth it as it's suede and leather
  10. This is a lovely simple shirt that is made even nicer by the small cut out detail on the back but again the price tag is ridiculous.

Josh bought me a Hello Kitty Pez, I'd never really heard of these before which blew Josh's mind!

Also... Didn't really do much after going on Friday night, we just had a nice relaxing duvet day with some lovely poached eggs on toast for breakfast and ended up finishing Josh's birthday cake which was really yummy.

Sunday 18th March 2012

Big bag of Fizzers (although as you can see most of them are gone now!)

Also... Ended up having a Happy Meal for lunch! Had a wander around the shops and saw too much stuff that I liked.

Monday 19th March 2012

These milkshakes are too good! I had a Daim one and Josh had a Haribo one

Tuesday 20th March 2012

Welcoming the first day of spring with a big bowl of strawberries

Also... Had fish steak and herby new potatoes for tea, healthy and tasty!

Wednesday 21st March 2012

The best tuna melts known to man / We made double layer jelly (but forgot to get a photo) with strawberry and blackcurrent jelly

Thursday 22nd March 2012

Really nice weather so we went for a walk to the war memorial park, it's one of my favourite places because it's like a whole different place compared to the city

Also... It's not really happy but I had to share this with you as I saw one of the saddest things on the way back from our walk. There is a second park close by which we walked through and an old woman was putting flowers on a bench in memory of someone which I find quite sad to start with but she then started stroking the dedication plaque on the bench and I actually started crying. It was so sad and I felt really sorry for her.

Friday 23rd March 2012

(Stupid glasses glaring again!) Lovely weather again which I'm really enjoying. It wasn't quite warm enough to ditch the tights though.

Also... Had a little wander to the retail park and then enjoyed an ice-cream in Burger King

BEAUTY: Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

"If the earth's not nourished you'll never grow beautiful flowers."

Above is the little philosophy that comes on the packaging of the hair growth treatment and I suppose when you think about it, it's true. If your hair is damaged it won't grow.
I know there's a lot of reviews out there about this product but I'll just put my opinion on it out there too as I think products work differently for everyone.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

What Lee Stafford Says

This gorgeous, thick intensive treatment with Pro-Growth™ complex gives your hair strength from within by fertilising your follicles, creating a healthy environment on your scalp to help hair grow faster and reach its maximum potential length. Its soothing formulation reduces irritation and moisturises the scalp, helping to keep it healthy and improving the volume and feel of your hair.

What I Think

Well I'm almost at the end of my tub of this stuff now so it's had a good test before I've reviewed it. My first point on this is the price. It's £7.99 for 200ml and for the amount you're supposed to use it will run out fast. It reccomends you use it every day until the condition of your hair improves then use it once a week after that. However since I bought it I've used it every other day and I use a bit less than the egg sized amount that is recommended. Also I don't slap a load of this on my scalp as my hair does get greasy very easily, I just use a small amount there and the rest goes on the length and ends of my hair.

I have quite thick hair and do get a lot of fall out with it (it's a good job I've a lot to spare!) I always have and probably always will and I do have to say that sometimes when I use this the fall out seems worse as in when I rinse my hair and run my hand through it quite a bit more hair seems to be on my hand then usual. Now I've not gone bald or anything, as I've said this is something that is quite normal for my hair but this mask does seem to make it slightly worse sometimes. So it's something to be aware of.

The first few times I used this I completely loved it, my hair felt amazing, it smelt lovely and most importantly the ends of my hair felt really really soft. This is the one thing I always seek improvement on as the very ends of my hair are really dry. However after around the first week of using it I stopped noticing the smell in my hair and my ends didn't feel as soft. I have no clue why this happened but it did so again it's something to take into consideration.

Overall I do like this product and I am a little sad that it's all gone but it could get very expensive repurchasing this so it's best to wait until there's offers on in Boots. I wouldn't praise it as much as some people have, as obviously I found some negative aspects to the product but like I've said different things work differently for people.

I was under no illusion that this mask would make my hair grow to Rapunzel lengths in the time I've been using it and that isn't what I bought it for, I wanted something that would improve the general condition of my hair without weighing it down or making it greasy and I've found that in this product. So despite a few small negatives I would definitely repurchase this as I do feel that it's worked on improving the condition of my hair and it's one of the best hair masks that I've tried.

  5. The more coloured jeans I see the more I want a pair.

  7. I love a good old satchel style bag and this ticks all the boxes.

To Mum...

Just a quick post for my mum, who is indeed a reader of my blog!

My poor mum didn't get a card today, which I have to point out is Royal Mail's fault for losing the card not mine, I'm not a bad daughter. Nor has she got a present (yet) as I'm currently 100 miles away from her at uni and didn't want to post the present (good job really seen as the card went missing). So she has to wait until I'm back at easter.

Anyway what I really want to say is...

Mum, thanks for been there and thanks for everything you do and for been a friend as well as my mum. Love you xxx

Us on holiday last year.

Boys Do Make Passes At Girls Who Wear Glasses

After reading Becca's blog the other day I was really pleased to see her post about being proud to wear glasses. It was so refreshing to see someone who embraces glasses and it inspired me to do a post about my experiences. I also recommend reading Becca's post as it's a really refreshing read.

My black glasses and my red glasses

I've worn glasses since I was 10 years old. It was inevitable really as my mum has to wear them all the time and my dad has to wear them for reading and being on the computer. I remember going to the opticians with my mum when I was little and trying all the glasses on but when it came to actually needing them it wasn't something I was happy about.

I've never really avoided wearing them as at school I needed them to see the work but on occassions I did used to take them off when I wasn't at school but it soon got to the point where I couldn't really do that without getting headaches.

I'm happy to say that I've never been bullied for wearing glasses and I definitely think it's more accepted now. I actually really like wearing my glasses now and fully accept I can't change it so why not embrace it? I can't wear contacts (I have tried) as I have an astigmatism in my left eye which essentially means it's rugby ball shaped rather than football and I found contacts far too uncomfortable because of this, but I think even if I could I'd still rather wear glasses as I think they actually suit me!

Wearing glasses no longer bothers me I'm happy with how I look with and without them on. I can't understand why anyone would avoid wearing glasses just for vanity reasons because it'll just make your eyes worse. There really isn't an excuse anymore as they're are some beautiful frames out now to suit everyone.

So if you've got to wear glasses embrace it, you look beautiful no matter what!

Tuesday Treats #17 and Bits and Bobs' 1st Birthday!

Before I get started on the Tuesday Treats I just want to say it's my blogs 1st birthday today! I really can't believe it's been a year since I first wrote on here. So I just want to say a really big thanks to everyone who takes the time to read and comment on here. I know it's not all about numbers but I really appreciate the followers I have and everyone who reads my blog and it brings a smile to my face to read all the lovely comments you leave for me. So thankyou everyone.

Happy Birthday Bits and Bobs!

Right onto this weeks Tuesday Treats now. As I mentioned on last weeks post, I'm doing a couple of Tuesday Treats posts that are slightly different as in they're not strictly wishlists (obviously some of the stuff I want) but they're more to show you my 'pastel picks' for spring/summer 2012 from various shops, so a couple of things appearing across the posts I actually already own!
So here's this weeks pastel picks from River Island.

EDIT: These videos have been deleted as I was no longer happy with the format and with having them on my YouTube channel. Please click here to see more recent Tuesday Treats posts.

My Perfect Dress

I am currently in mourning. I have lost the love of my life.

Ok that was a bit dramatic but I found my perfect dress this afternoon and couldn't buy. It's just a dress I know but let me explain...

The dress in question is a lovely little lacey thing from H&M it comes in white and purpley blue. I first saw the purpley one almost three months ago in a magazine in a spring fashion feature, 'that's a nice dress' I thought but after careful deliberation I also thought 'but I won't buy it if I see it in H&M it's not my sort of colour'. Skip forwards a month and there I am browsing the H&M site when a disover the purpley dress also comes in white. It was love at first site. I needed that dress.

So for the past two months I've been in H&M every week looking for the dress and finally found it today. It was pure perfection on a hanger, soft lace, a silky underdress and best of all there was a size 10. It was meant to be. So off I went to the changing room clutching my beautiful dress, a huge smile on my face. I slipped the dress on and it fitted perfectly and I mean perfect. Where dresses usually cling in all the wrong places on my, I would say, larger than average derrière this one effortlessly skimmed my 'curves'. I didn't think it was possibly but I fell even more in love.

So I left the changing room to show Josh and he confirmed what I already knew, it was a lovely dress that really suited me. So I had my card ready before I'd even took the thing off. I'd decided I was going to wear it for my birthday (I should point out that it isn't until the end of July but I like to plan!) and I'd decided on accessories already. I took it off and carefully placed it on the hanger and admired it whilst getting dressed. Then I noticed it...

Huge orange and brown marks all over the front of it. Someone had tried it on with a face full of makeup and ragged it over their face when taking it off. It's ok I thought I'll get Josh to look for another size 10. Then the worst thing happened, there weren't any 10's left. Devastation took over, I contemplated buying the dress and trying to wash the stains out but when I looked closer the makeup was literally all over the top part of the dress, I mean the front, back and shoulders. How someone even manages that I don't know.

Oh I should point out the makeup didn't come from me because I wasn't wearing a scrap of the stuff. When I looked at all the dresses they all had makeup on them, and a lot of it. I really wish people would be more careful and not try white clothes on when they're wearing that much makeup.

So that was that I'd lost my one true love, my white laced vision of perfection. I did consider buying the purpley one but it's just not the one I wanted. So I'm going to hold out in the hopes that H&M get more in and I can snap one up before that tangoed brigade of Coventry try them on. I refuse to order online due to the amount of terrible things I've heard about H&M delivery. Me and that dress are meant to be so I'm going to wait patiently for the day we'll be reunited!

By the way this is the purpley version of the dress just so you know what it looks like, there's no point in putting the white one on because it looks terrible on a white background.

Tuesday Treats #16

These next few weeks I'll be doing a few Tuesday Treats specials focusing on the spring/summer trend of pastels. I'm not a huge pastels fan but have found a few nice pieces from various places that I like so I'll be doing posts on my pastel picks from New Look, Topshop, River Island and Missguided.
First up is New Look, enjoy.

EDIT: These videos have been deleted as I was no longer happy with the format and with having them on my YouTube channel. Please click here to see more recent Tuesday Treats posts.

  1. I love the cut out back of this dress and I am partial to a lacey dress so this is perfect
  2. This dress is a really pretty wardrobe basic that would like lovely in summer bare legged and in winter with tights and a chunky cardi
  3. The colours of this are amazing! Such a cute little top
  4. New Look have loads of different colours in these shorts but I liked this colour as I don't own anything in that colour
  5. I'm in love with this, the photo does it no justice but it looks amazing zoomed in on the website. Perfect for spring when it not boiling but not cold either
  6. I like the style of this bag and thought the cream colour would go lovely with all the pastel bits and pieces
  7. The ultimate manly feminine shoes!
  8. Perfect for completing a pastel outfit
